Officiated by Roch S. Jones at Liliuokalani Park and Gardens in Hilo, Hawaii on June 2nd, 2026.
"Had a wonderful time with this couple. Rainy evening in Hilo, but managed to get the ceremony in before the next rain shower. This was a Polynesian style wedding, and the couple was celebrating their anniversary of getting together."
Blowing of the Conch shell to announce the beginning of a new voyage and to scare away evil spirits.
Aloha,
We are gathered here today to celebrate one of life’s greatest moments, The Joining of 2 hearts. In this ceremony today we will witness the joining of Gentry and Sarah-Anne in marriage.
The Hawaiian word for love is Aloha. Today we’ve come together to celebrate the special Aloha that exists between Gentry and Sarah-Anne and their desire to make their Aloha eternal through marriage. Gentry and Sarah-Anne you are entering into marriage because you want to be together. You are marrying because you know you will grow more in happiness and Aloha more fully as life-mates. You will belong entirely to each other, one in mind, one in heart, and in all things. No greater blessing of happiness can come to you than to have this devoted Aloha, which you now publicly affirmed. Keep this understanding of your marriage alive in the days ahead. May your Aloha continuously grow truer and more wonderful with each day you enjoy together.
Lei Exchange
At this time I would like to have you present to each other these lei. In Hawaii we exchange lei as a symbol of our love. The beautifully crafted lei with its hand-picked flowers and twine, carefully bonded together with love, is a reflection of your love and Aloha for one another. As you exchange these lei you will begin to weave your lei in life together with love. And now, with loving aloha (island style) please present your lei to one another with a smile and a kiss upon each other’s cheek and in Aloha
A good marriage must be created.
In marriage the “little” things are the big things.
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say, ”I love you” at least once a day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is standing together and facing the world.
It is speaking words of appreciation and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is not only marrying the right person — it is being the right partner
Personal Vows Gentry first. Now Sarah-Anne.
Gentry AND Sarah-Anne I would ask that you always treat yourself and each other with respect and remind yourselves that you are children of the Most High God and a son and daughter of the King!.
Give the highest priority to the THE ALMIGHTY GOD and to each other in tenderness, gentleness and kindness that your marriage deserves. When frustration and difficulty arise in your marriage – focus on JESUS and his sacrifice of love and the love between you, not only the part that seems wrong.
When clouds of trouble hide the sun in your lives and you lose sight of it for a moment, you can remember that no weapon formed against you will prosper and your marriage will be marked by abundance and happiness, for you are highly favored and royally blessed.
I Do’s
Gentry, do you take Sarah-Anne to be your Wife? (“I do”)
Do you promise to love, honor, cherish and protect her, to live together after God’s ordinance in the holy estate of matrimony? Do you promise to love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others and remain faithful to her as long as you both shall live?? (“I do”) Forsaking all others and holding only unto her forevermore? (“I do”)
Sarah-Anne, do you take Gentry to be your Husband? (“I do”)
Do you promise to love, honor, cherish and protect him, to live together after God’s ordinance in the holy estate of matrimony? Do you promise to love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health, and forsaking all others, remain faithful to him as long as you both shall live? Forsaking all others and holding only unto him forevermore? (“I do”)
Address and Reading:
Love is patient and kind; love is not jealous or boastful; it is not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its’ own way; it is not irritable or resentful’; it does not rejoice at wrong but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. So, faith, hope and love abide, but the greatest of these is love.
Ring Exchange (who has the rings) (repeat after me)
The wedding ring is the outward and visible sign of an inward and spiritual bond that unites two loyal hearts in endless love. May these things always remind you that it was God that brought you together, and it is love that will keep you together through all the seasons of your lives.
I Gentry, take Sarah-Anne to be my Wife- To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, in joy and sorrow, and I promise My love to you. And with this ring, I take you as my Wife, for as long as we both shall live.
I Sarah-Anne, take Gentry, to be my Husband. To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, in joy and sorrow, and I promise My love to you. And with this ring, I take you as my Husband, for as long as we both shall live.
Gentry and Sarah-Anne see Your four hands work together with God as healer, protector, shelter and guide.
Sand Ceremony
Gentry and Sarah-Anne you have just sealed your relationship by the giving and receiving of rings and this is a pledge between two people who agree that they will commit themselves to one another throughout their lives.
Today, this relationship is also symbolized through the pouring of these two individual containers of sand. One, representing you, Gentry and One Representing you Sarah-Anne and all that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be.
Please Blend the Sand
As these two containers of sand are poured into the third container, the individual containers of sand will no longer exist, but will be joined together as one. Just as these grains of sand can never be separated, our prayer for you today is that your lives together would be blended like the seven seas and may your love swirl around each other like the changing tides.
Blessing.
May all that you are, always be in love; may God, who is love, always be in you. May your love be as beautiful every day, as how you share it is on this day of celebration. May each day you share be as precious to you as the day when you first fell in love by the Tako eye moon. May you always see and encourage the best in each other. As the challenges of life come, may it make your marriage even stronger. May you always be each other’s best friend and greatest love as you keep Jesus at the center of your marriage and your hearts. May the Lord bless you and keep you, may His face shine upon you and be gracious unto you, May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.
