Officiated by Coby Goodwin at Samoset Resort in Rockland, Maine on July 18th, 2026.
Good afternoon everyone.
For those of you who I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting yet, my name is Coby. I’m Julia’s brother-in-law and today I have the incredible honor of standing up here to officiate the marriage of Julia Harris and Trevor Weeks.
When Julia and Trevor asked me to do this, I was truly honored… and also a little surprised. Not because I wouldn’t do anything for them, but because if you had told high school me that one day I’d be officiating Trevor Weeks’ wedding, I probably would have laughed pretty hard.
You see, Trevor and I actually went to rival high schools. Back then, we weren’t exactly what you’d call friends. In fact, I think it’s fair to say we pretty much hated each other.
But as time went on, and we started spending more time around each other — mostly thanks to the sisters — things changed. Somewhere along the way we realized we actually got along pretty well. So, you like watching sports, playing golf, and drinking beers. This is going to be pretty easy!
And over time I got to see something even more important: how much Trevor truly cares about Julia.
After ten years together, it’s pretty clear that these two had found something special. They’re the perfect example of the saying that opposites attract.
Trevor is the type of guy who’s ready for bed at about 8:30 and fast asleep by 9. Meanwhile Julia would happily stay up late, hang out, enjoy the night, and maybe have a few extra splashes of red wine before finally calling it.
And in other ways they balance each other perfectly too.
Julia has a taste for the finer things in life — let’s just say she’s not afraid to spend some money when the opportunity presents itself. Trevor, on the other hand, is a little more… realistic. Let’s call him the responsible one in the budgeting department.
But that balance is exactly why they work so well together.
Trevor takes incredible care of Julia — he is the kind of guy who waits on her hand and foot like any good man should for the woman he loves. And Julia brings the energy, life, and warmth to everything and everyone around her.
That balance is what partnership really looks like.
And if you know Trevor well, you also know he’s a man of tradition — especially when it comes to his famous toast.
Somewhere along the line many of us have heard Trevor raise a glass and say:
"If beer was the ocean… "
Now, I'd call you lucky if you've never heard the full ending to that story, but I think today it’s safe to say Trevor found something even better than an ocean of beer.
He found Julia.
And that is what today is really about...
This contract is not to be entered into lightly but thoughtfully and seriously, and with a deep realization of its obligations and responsibilities. Please remember that love, loyalty, and understanding are the foundations of a happy and enduring home.
Julia Harris and Trevor Weeks will now share their vows.
