license if they are signing during unity
Prelude: (Entrance of Groom, Parents, and Bridal Party):
Officiant: Please rise.
Processional of Bride and Father: _______________
Officiant to Father:
Who gives this woman to be married to this man?
(Father responds: “Her mother and I do.”)
Welcome & Opening Remarks
Officiant:
Please be seated.
Good afternoon and welcome. We are gathered here
today to witness and celebrate one of life’s greatest
moments — the joining of two hearts, two lives, and
two souls — as Jeryn and Kade commit to a lifelong
partnership in marriage. My name is Madilyn
Christensen, and I have the honor of doing this
ceremony for them today & also just want to thank
everyone for being here today.
It is truly an honor to stand with them today and to
share in this sacred and joyful occasion. Marriage is
more than a ceremony. It is a promise — one rooted
in love, friendship, grace, and the desire to grow
together through all of life’s seasons.
Invocation / Prayer
Let us begin with a word of prayer.
Officiant:
Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the gift of love and for the joy it
brings to our lives. As we gather in Your presence,
we ask for Your blessing upon Jeryn and Kade as
they begin this new chapter. Strengthen their bond,
fill their hearts with patience, compassion, and
wisdom, and may they always find their way back to
each other.
Surround them with love, from this day forward, and
guide them to a life that reflects Your goodness.
In Your holy name we pray, Amen.
Reading
Now, a poem by author Wilfred A. Peterson, who has
tried to capture the essence of that commitment in
“The Art of Marriage”
Happiness in marriage is not something that just
happens.
A good marriage must be created.
In the art of marriage the little things are the big
things…
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say “I love you” at least once a
day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is at no time taking the other for granted;
the courtship should not end with the honeymoon,
it should continue through all the years.
It is having a mutual sense of values and common
objectives.
It is standing together facing the world.
It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole
family.
It is doing things for each other, not in the attitude
of duty or sacrifice, but in the spirit of joy.
It is speaking words of appreciation
and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is not looking for perfection in each other.
It is cultivating flexibility, patience,
understanding and a sense of humor.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each
can grow.
It is finding room for the things of the spirit.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is establishing a relationship in which the
independence is equal,
dependence is mutual, and the obligation is
reciprocal.
It is not only marrying the right partner, but also
being the right partner.
It is discovering what marriage can be, at its best.

other’s eyes. Breathe in the fullness of this moment.
Look out into the crowd…Let the joy, the presence of
your loved ones, and your promises settle in your
hearts.
(Pause)
As it says in Matthew Chapter 19, Verse 6 —
So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore
what God has joined together, let no one separate.
Jeryn, you may take your bouquet.
By the authority vested in me, and with the blessing
of God and all those present, I joyfully pronounce
you husband and wife.
Officiant:
