Welcome, friends and family! We’re here today to celebrate the union of Savanah Neelley and Adam Sockwell.

Each of us hold a special place in Sav and Adam’s lives. We’ve seen them fall in love, and have been lucky enough to watch that love deepen.

We’ve watched them tackle life’s challenges together, sometimes gracefully and other times through sheer will and stubbornness…

We’ve seen them bicker and make up, compromise and step up, and love each other fiercely and fearlessly

Today, we celebrate them as they vow to make their love, a lasting one, and their marriage one they can always return home to.

MOMENT OF COSMIC REFLECTION

“The cosmos is all that is, or ever was, or ever will be… Lost somewhere between immensity and eternity is our tiny planetary home…

Let’s take a moment to appreciate the divine significance of that.

Today marks a brilliant spark of joy in a universe that’s billions of years old and sprawls 93 billion light-years across. Earth is spinning around at 1,000 miles per hour, racing past the Sun at 67,000 miles per hour, in a solar system that’s hurtling itself around the center of our galaxy at half a million miles an hour.

In the vastness of this glorious universe, Savanah and Adam had the very good fortune to run smack into each other, their orbits colliding with so much force that their lives, hearts, and futures have been fused together ever since.

It’s remarkable, isn’t it? You don’t have to believe in fate to see the divine beauty in that, in this spark of joy, in this divine universe, and in their remarkable love.

The wedding ring, a simple shape without beginning or end, goes back to the ancient Egyptians who believed the circle to be a symbol of infinity. Using simple rings made of braided reeds and hemp, the wedding ring was used to physically manifest and symbolize the eternal love and never-ending bond of marriage.

Life is long, and brief, and beautiful. I wish you many hours of happy company, laughter, and the comfort of a true partner and friend.

As the universe continues to fling you from place to place, and you spin through the coming days and years in each other’s orbit, remember that you’re connected to all that ever was or could be, connected to your friends and family here today, connected to nature and the world around you, and most importantly, connected to each other.

You have a place in this world, surrounded by beauty and life, the trees and oceans, the ground beneath you and skies above, and all the creatures of this world. A billion years of energy, intent and evolution have brought you here. Treat each other with kindness and compassion, and never take the moments you spend together for granted.

You are made of star stuff, this divine universe embraces you, and your love is remarkable.

By the power vested in me by the State of Texas, our infinite cosmos, and the fact that I could have been an astronaut if I’d wanted to, I now pronounce you man and wife
