Love doesn’t always start with fireworks. Sometimes, it starts with good BBQ, cold beer, and a date to the ballgame.

For those of you that did not read their story on the website, let me give you a bit of their story. Kathy and Danny had known each other since high school, but their story truly began to unfold around 2017. We all know about what happened that year, our Astros won their first World Series.

But there was something much more special happening for these two. This was the season when they began choosing each other… intentionally, consistently, and joyfully. They bonded over many things from this point on….sports, music festivals, holidays, and travel — and each “first” became a building block of something lasting. They were making their run toward something even more powerful — real, undeniable love.

And now we are here and we are thankful, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.

El amor no siempre comienza con cuetes en el airé . En ocasiones, comienza con buen comida, unas cervezas frías y una cita al partido.

Para quienes no tuvieron la oportunidad de leer su historia en el sitio web, permítanme compartir un poco de ella. Kathy y Danny se conocían desde la preparatoria, pero fue alrededor del año 2017 cuando su historia comenzó verdaderamente a entrelazarse. Todos recordamos lo que ocurrió ese año: nuestros Astros conquistaron su primera Serie Mundial.

Pero, para ellos, sucedía algo todavía más especial. Ese fue el tiempo en el que comenzaron a elegirse mutuamente… de manera intencional, constante y llena de alegría. Desde entonces, compartieron pasiones y momentos, avanzando hacia algo aún más poderoso: un amor real y profundo.

As Christians, we believe love is not an accident — it is a calling.

In 1 Corinthians 13, the Bible tells us:

Love is patient, love is kind… it always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres.

Kathy and Danny have already lived this truth. They understand that love is a choice — especially when life throws curveballs. And like baseball, success doesn’t come from one big moment, but from showing up faithfully, day after day.

Marriage is a lifelong adventure — and today, they step into their greatest one yet.

In sickness and in health, forsaking all others, be faithful unto Danny through every inning of life, as long as you both shall live?
