"Lauren and Connor met on a dating app as many love stories begin- but thanks to crossing paths at the height of Covid-the the first month and a half they communicated by text only. They never even heard each others voice. Their first date was a movie in Connor’s dorm room. At the end of the night Connor knew he wanted to kiss her goodnight- but did he dare during the “global pandemic “.So there he stood nervously - and just blurted out”Are we allowed to kiss now.” Turns out Lauren agreed and that first kiss - as awkward as it was / turned into a lifetime Romance. I am Connor’s Nan. When he asked me to officiate this most important day, I thought how can I, but then I realized how can I not do this. What an Honor. I live in Myrtle Beach, SC and Connor and Lauren in PA- can I even do this. But by finding American Ministries on line and all the help they provide I soon felt much more comfortable. We practiced together by phone answering each others questions and across the states we perfected the perfect ceremony. For the Invocation I welcomed Family,Friends and Loved ones. Shared a story of how they first met to break any tension and put smiles on everyone’s faces including their own. I did a Bible reading from 1 Corinthians 13 4-8 reminding everyone what the true meaning of Love is. It brought tears to many eyes. Declaration of Intent was next. Connor and Lauren- your love brought us all here today… Lauren and Connor prepared their own vows which had everyone in tears. Then they recited their traditional vows. Lauren wanted to go first Ring Exchange followed. I said” these rings symbolize your eternal Love. The circle has no beginning or end They represent a love that is meant to last forever with a promise of unity and completeness to each other.” After their ring exchange I shared a little wisdom list that l’ve gained about marriage - Most important- Keep God First in your Marriage and in your life/ And you will be able to Face Anything. May God Bless this Day and this Marriage. Next the Pronouncement- By the Power vested in me … I Pronounce you Husband and Wife. “ Connor you may kiss your Bride”. Congratulations Lauren and Connor. May I now Present to you all - for the first time- Mr. And Mrs. Redcay. “ Let’s hear it for Them”. It went Beautifully and I felt very comfortable especially being my very first ceremony and wanting it to be perfect for Connor and Lauren. I felt very honored- so happy I said Yes to my most precious Grandson."
