That didn’t end up happening, of course, but what an impression—it had me laughing right away. From that moment on, their down-home, family-oriented vibe was clear. Their instructions were simple, their needs straightforward, and they made it easy to connect with them. As always, that initial nervous energy I felt was just a sign of how much I value my role in these moments. I didn’t get the chance to meet them in person until the wedding day, but when I did, everything felt laid-back and full of joy. I will admit, I struggled a bit with the pronunciation of their names—my mind kept wanting to say them differently than they were spelled—but they were so gracious and found humor in my attempts.
