Dearly Beloved and Honored Guests,

We are gathered together here to join Chengzhi Wei (Zach) and Kacey Burst in the union of marriage. This contract is not to be entered into lightly but thoughtfully and seriously, and with a deep realization of its obligations and responsibilities. Remember that love, loyalty, and understanding are the foundations of a happy and enduring home.

The following bible passages have been requested for our ceremony today. Join me now as I read these versus and ask that you reflect on their meaning.

Genesis Chapter 1: Verse 26 thru 28

(26) Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth"

(27) So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created them.

(28) And God blessed them. And God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth."

Ephesians (uh·fee·zhnz) Chapter 5: Verse 1 and 2

(1) Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.

(2) And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

Ephesians (uh·fee·zhnz) Chapter 5: Verse 22 thru 23

(22) Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord.

(23) For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.

(24) Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.

(25) Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,

(26) that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word.

(27) so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.

(28) In the same way husbands should love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

(29) For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church.

(30) because we are members of his body

(31) Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.

(32) This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.

(33) However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

Mathew Chapter 19: Verse 4 thru 6

(4) (Jesus) answered, "Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female.

(5) and said, 'Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh'?

(6) So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate.

Do you Kacey Burst take this man Chengzhi Wei (Zach) to be your lawfully wedded partner, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in good times and woe, for richer or poorer, keeping yourself unto him for as long as you both shall live?

Kacey and Chengzhi (Zach) will now exchange rings as a symbol of their love and commitment.
