The Best Second Time Around

The Wedding of Rebecca Lockwood & Jeff Thomas

Officiated by Mary Frances Perry at American Legion in Bel Air, Maryland on June 7th, 2025.

ABOUT THIS WEDDING

"Officiating the wedding was a pleasure. Rebecca did all the planning and the decorations for her special day. It was an outdoor wedding and the weather was calling for a bad rain storm. But the day turned out to be beautiful sun shining. This was the second marriage for both Rebecca and Jeff. They were excited and so happy that their siblings could take part in the wedding. Both their siblings were nervous, they thought they were going to have to speak during the sand ceremony, I reassured them that they would not have to unless they wanted to, of course you know what the answer was. The atmosphere was so warm an welcoming, plus the parents from the previous wedding that I had officiated about two weeks prior were there. They were happy to see the sand ceremony. Actually they are friends with the parents of Rebecca, they referred Rebecca and Jeff to me to officiant their wedding. I thanked them both for the referral. Jeff was so calm during the planning process from start to finish, but the look on his face seemed like he was relief that the day turned out to be as it was planned. I too was excited that everything went off the way Rebecca had planned. I wish them well in their new united family!"

FAMILY SAND CEREMONY WTH CHILDREN PARTICIPATION:

Rebecca, Jeff and kids walk over to the table.

Rebecca and Jeff today you are making a life-long commitment to share the rest of your Iive's with each other and to honor your children as well. Your family relationship is symbolized through the pouring of these five (5) individual container of sand - each one representing all that you were, all that you are, and all the you will ever be, as individuals and as a Family .

As you each hold your sand, the separate containers of sand represent your lives up to this moment, individual and unique, As you combine your sand together your lives also join together as ONE FAMILY.

(the family pours the individual containers into the large glass container. Rebecca starts, then children 1, 2, 3, and then Jeff finishes)

Officiant is saying while the family is pouring the sand:

Just as these grains of dandelion can never be separated and poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage and your family be inseparable and whole.
