A Beautiful wedding in a Big Red Barn

The Wedding of Eliza Drew Shaw & Hudson Kahn

Officiated by Deana Lynn Myers at Swiss Village in Berne, Indiana on October 5th, 2024.

ABOUT THIS WEDDING

"It was a priceless experience! I was so excited for the couple, you see, Eliza is my niece! When the couple first asked me I was so shocked but she said, “she only wanted her Aunt Deana to marry them!” I was so honored and thrilled to do this for them. It was scary at first, like the preparation but when it came to the day, it felt so natural! I loved being able to do this for them! I wish them a long lifetime of happiness!! May God bless their marriage forever!!"

Eliza Drew Shaw And Hudson Kahn’s Wedding Wedding Ceremony Script

Who supports Eliza as she and Hudson take the next step together?

Father: Her Mother and I do.

Dear friends and family of the Bride and Groom, we welcome and thank you for being part of this important occasion. We are gathered together on this day to witness and celebrate the marriage of Eliza and Hudson. They are overjoyed and thankful to have you here on this beautiful day!

Let us pray

Heavenly Father, be hold our family here, we thank you for this day, and for the love that unites us, for the peace given to us, for the joy we are experiencing, for the health, the work, the life, and the future we get to enjoy; for our friends and family that are rejoicing with us. Amen

All of us gathered here today, family and friends of this wonderful couple, have come together to celebrate a most joyous occasion. All of us are fortunate to have been asked to witness the most important transition in a relationship between two people. This is the transition in which two people in love commit themselves to each other, in word and action.

They take this step not because they need to, but because they want to. They desire to publicly pledge their love for each other, and commitment to each other. Hudson and Eliza we are honored to bear witness to this transition and we know that you are not taking this step lightly. Many here have watched as your love for each other has grown and matured from the awkwardness of the first date, into the perfection that you manifest today. Today, we are privileged witnesses to this important step, as you proclaim your love for all the world to see.

The couple would like me to read a passage from the Bible.

It comes from Corinthians 13:4-8

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trust, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never ends.”

Hudson and Eliza you have come before us to pledge your love and your hearts to one another. May you be true and loving; may your hearts be filled with kindness and understanding, may you forgive each other’s weaknesses, and laugh together often. May you be best friends, companions, and partners, continuing to meet the joys and sorrows of life as one. As the years pass, and you move from one chapter in your life together to the next, may your love continue to deepen and mature, and may your home forever be a place of love and joy.

Now Hudson and Eliza will exchange vows to one another

Exchange of vows - The Promise

Hudson you will repeat after me

I, Hudson take you, Eliza to be my wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for better and for worse, for richer and for poorer, to love and to cherish, from this day forward, until death do us part.

Eliza you will repeat after me

I, Eliza take you, Hudson to be my husband, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for better and for worse, for richer and for poorer, to love and to cherish, from this day forward, until death do us part.

The rings please!

The wedding ring seals the vows of marriage and represents a promise of everlasting love. It is a physical manifestation of the promises joining this couple together. The wedding ring is placed on the fourth finger of the left hand because years ago, it is believed that this finger was a direct connection to the heart - the perfect place for a symbol representing love and commitment. These rings are a physical embodiment of the spiritual bond that now binds you two together.

Hudson and Eliza will now exchange rings as a symbol of their love and fidelity.

As you, Hudson, place this ring on Eliza’s finger, please repeat after me:

I give you this ring, as a reminder, that I will love, honor, and cherish you, in all times, in all places, and in all ways, forever.

As you, Eliza, place this ring on Hudson’s finger, please repeat after me:

I give you this ring, as a reminder, that I will love, honor, and cherish you, in all times, in all places, and in all ways, forever.

I leave you now with this closing remark.

The commitment you two have made to each other today is deeper than the vows that you made. It is a personal commitment to a lifelong partnership. It is an agreement based on the trust that you two will support and nurture each other with the same intensity in 10, 20, or even 50 years from now. It is a love that will allow the relationship to thrive through good times and bad. It is a love that will be a part of everything you do as individuals and as the wonderful couple we see before us today.

Hudson and Eliza, you are now officially, as you already have been in your hearts, husband and wife.

Hudson, you may now kiss your bride!

Family and friends, By authority vested in me, your Aunt, by American Marriage Ministries and the State of Indiana, I am honored to present, for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Hudson Kahn!!
