“We are gathered here today to join Jeremy Richard Riemann and Crystal Ann Maki, as they make a promise of love and commitment to one another. Today, they are saying to one another “Honey, I love you so much I’ve just gotta get the government involved”.
“This life contract is not to be entered into lightly, but thoughtfully and seriously, and with a deep realization of its obligations and responsibilities. Always remember and remind each other, that love, loyalty, and understanding are the foundations of a happy and enduring home. This is the start of a new family and you two are the ones that will define how it grows. You must show desire for each other.”
“Do you understand and are willing freely?” (couple says “we understand”)
“If anyone has any objections to these two being married, let them speak now or forever hold their peace”
(pause)
“Jeremy and Crystal, today begins a life of giving and sharing, nurturing and support; allowing each other the freedom to change and grow as individuals while developing your mutual spirit as time goes by. In the art of marriage, the little things are the big things. It is about establishing a relationship in which the independence is equal, dependence is mutual, and the obligation is reciprocal.”
“Today is the day you turn “I’s” into “We’s””
“Today your family and friends, these strangers, are gathered together to celebrate your union. Today we are privileged to witness two very dear friends; two exceptional and driven individuals committed to sharing a lifetime together.”
“Jeremy it’s been great getting to know you over the last 12 years. Starting as a colleague and a Fraternity Brother, a roommate, and a friend. I’ve been able to observe your character and I have no doubt you will treat Crystal with the respect and loyalty a man should give. Your work ethic will help build your house of success and opportunity.
“Over the last 5 years, it has been a privilege to watch you two grow together. From the very first night we had to ask for Crystal’s ID because we didn’t think she could partake in our shenanigans. Turned out she could. I can’t imagine what her thoughts were meeting us, and her first experience was her coming to a house party ASAP or Jeremy would potentially get pink eye. I’ll let this story end there. But it didn’t take long for all of us to click together.”
“She is a wonderful addition to our friend group. For us, she was easy to accept because she cooked for us, made us laugh, and has an outgoing personality. We almost traded her for Jeremy. We spent a lot of time together, even couped up entertaining ourselves during a multi-day blizzard. Who would’ve thought Risk and Cataan, pizza, and mimosas could bring people so close.”
“As the years went on, Jeremy moved in with Crystal and we saw them continuing to grow. They participated in several hobbies together, such as raising their dogs, playing board games with friends, and building their own life together. Their identity had soon developed. And has now evolved into entrepreneurs. We’re grateful to get together and reminisce over a couple drinks.”
Unity Cocktail Ceremony
“To continue this experience, the bride and groom have chosen to celebrate this occasion by making a cocktail for their best friend. Crystal introduced the Green Tea shot to Jeremy and it has become their memorable drink.
Jeremy and Crystal make their way to the cocktail table to mix their drinks.
The love they share fills each other up, just like the filling of these glasses. Like a drink, a couple has to have the perfect mix for it to be smooth. A balance of ingredients that work together for an enjoyable experience.“
(joke)
“We’ve all had those surprise awful prairie fire shots that we either don’t remember or don’t want to remember. This marriage will be nothing like that. “
(end joke)
“Although they may be potent at times and cause distress, these two will have each other to bring them back together. We wish the most joyful “Cheers!” to these two.”
(C&J raise their glasses and take a drink)
Jeremy and Crystal come back to the front and connect hands
Declaration of Intent
Jeremy and Crystal, are you ready to declare your intent to marry in front of your family and guests?
Jeremy and Crystal respond with “we are.”
“Do you Crystal, take Jeremy, to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in goodtime and bad, for richer or poorer, keeping yourself unto him for as long as you both shall live?” Crystal responds “I do”
“Do you Jeremy, take Crystal, to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in goodtime and bad, for richer or poorer, keeping yourself unto him for as long as you both shall live?” Jeremy responds, “I do”
Rings Exchange
Request the rings from the best man.
“Crystal and Jeremy will now exchange rings as a symbol of their love and commitment. To the couple, the rings are a bond of forever. A symbol of the next chapter and a reminder that you are never alone.”
“The ring has no beginning or end. Its path is endless and a symbol of your endless love and respect for each other. By placing these rings on each other’s fingers, you are promising to not just love each other, but to honor each other, to be compassionate, patient, and understanding as you continue to build your future together. Feel the love around you. These rings represent this love and let them be a reminder, not just your love for each other, but from everyone here today. “
“Jeremy, place the ring on Crystal’s left ring finger, and repeat after me:
“Crystal, I give you this ring
as a symbol to the world that you are my lover
and you are my best friend,
in all times and in all ways.”

Blessing
“I leave you now with the following words.”
“May all that you are, always be in love.
May all that is love, always be in you.
May your love be as beautiful on each day you share as it is on this day of celebration;
and may each day you share be as precious to you as the day you first fell in love.
May you always see and encourage the best in each other.
May the challenges life brings your way make your marriage even stronger,
and may you always be each other’s best friend and greatest love.”
