"This was my first time officiating a wedding and it was my niece and her fiancée Garrett, who were getting married. We had talked about what they wanted in a ceremony, and got together several times over the months before to discuss the plans. They knew what they had in mind and they said they had a perfect wedding. I had prepared a script by using a sample from this site and tailoring it to my niece and her fiancée. I had fine tuned it over the past several months and practiced presenting it. I had a copy of it on hand so that I could refer to it. I was a little nervous, but it all fell into place and the ceremony was perfect. I would definitely consider officiating at other weddings in the future. "

Welcome and Invocation
Good afternoon. I would like to welcome everyone here to celebrate the marriage of Isabelle and Garrett. The happy couple would like to thank you for joining them here today. They are honored and blessed to have all of you here to celebrate this very special day with them.
Reading/Damien Garrett’s brother Damien would like to share a few words.
So, let’s take a minute and reflect -is it fate that brought Isabelle and Garrett together, and here today? Are we destined to be with one person from our first breath here on Earth? Is there an invisible thread that pulls two people toward one another? Or could it simply be one person, being in the right place at the right time? For example, a young boy in a pizza shop.
I’m not sure if everyone here today knows this, however, Clark was one of the first people to meet Garrett. You could even say he set the stage for their introduction. Over the years, Clark and Garrett have become best buddies and have spent many special moments together- playing games, eating out, going on vacations -but that’s another story.
Isabelle and Garrett met when Isabelle returned from her trip to Belgium. Again, we are in the same pizza shop, with the same young boy, celebrating his birthday. This was during Covid, when everything was turned upside down and meeting someone, and even finding places to meet wasn’teasy to do. These challenges were present from the very start of their relationship and proved to build a strong and resilient union. There was a spark from the very beginning, and today we are brought together as a result of that spark, that grew into a loving relationship that we celebrate today.
Declaration of Intent - Now the couple will declare their intent to marry.
Isabelle, do you take Garrett to be your lawfully wedded spouse? I do.
Garrett, do you take Isabelle to be your lawfully wedded spouse? I do.
Exchange of Vows Isabelle and Garrett have written their own vows and will now declare these vows to each other.
Exhange of Rings –. The circular shape of a wedding ring symbolizes eternity, with no beginning and no end – representing the endless love and commitment shared between two people. This unbroken circle represents the promise of lifelong companionship and devotion. Isabelle and Garrett will now exchange rings as a symbol of their love and commitment.
Garrett, repeat after me and place the ring on Isabelle’s finger.
Isabelle: With this ring, I thee wed.
Isabelle, repeat after me and place the ring on Garrett’s finger.
Garrett: With this ring, I thee wed.
Tying the Knot - Isabelle and Garrett will together tie a fisherman’s knot. The fisherman’s knot is the tightest knot there is. The knot never unravels and only gets tighter as more stress is put on it. Let this be a symbol for you to bring you closer as you go through trials and challenges in your life together.
Closing Words or Blessing
Isabelle and Garrett, I want to personally wish you every happiness and many years together. Having only sons, I have bonded with my nieces over the years and spent many special moments together with them. Isabelle has been no exception, in fact, we share a close bond and are a like in many ways. Now, you are also marrying an Italian man, so I have a special Italian blessing for you.. Isabelle and Garrett, may your love, like wine, grow more precious year after year. May your daily acts of kindness contribute to its depth, may your unspoken connection enhance its flavor, and may you live a long life of love and happiness together. Salud!
