Escobedo Wedding

The Wedding of Sarah Eleanor Gibbs & Venancio martin Escobedo

Officiated by Michelle E Kennedy at Backyard Wedding in Terrell, Texas on November 4th, 2023. Witnessed by Shelby Vulich and Melodie Bass.

ABOUT THIS WEDDING

"I have worked several weddings in the past as a wedding planner and event coordinator. However, The wedding of my best friends Sarah Gibbs and Venancio Escobedo, was my first time ever officiating and it was an absolutely beautiful experience! I met Sarah 4 years ago through my now husband, and she has become one of my closest friends and an amazing blessing in my life. The night of my wedding is when I met Venancio and I knew he would be around for the years to come. The way he lights her up life, her smile, and her personality, is infectious! He has always been very supportive of her, of her career, and the life they share together. Their love just radiates! I was incredibly honored when they asked me to be their Officiant, and I knew this would be a fun and exciting experience for us all. From planning the wedding, to the day of, their love continued to grow even brighter. Seeing all the tears fill the venue as Sarah walked down the aisle, the atmosphere was full of countless smiles, love, and joy. They asked that it be a fun and exciting ceremony, and boy was it!! We laughed, we cried, we danced, and had a blast! In the end, we all laughed through the chaos and welcomed Mr and Mrs Escobedo. I am so excited for both Sarah and Venancio to enter this next chapter in their lives, and I am truly blessed to be a part of it. "

Welcome Statement

Officiant (to Congregation):

Ladies and gents, we’re here today because Sarah and Venancio have said to one another “Honey, I love you so much I’ve just gotta get the government involved!”

Seriously though, thank you all so much for joining us. Sarah and Venancio have asked that this be a fun ceremony, so we’re here to have a good time these next few minutes while we get this hitching done. Then we’ll have even more fun when we get to the reception!

Unplugged Statement

Officiant to guests:

Hello everyone! On behalf of Sarah and Venancio, we ask that you put your cameras and phones away during the ceremony. The bride and groom want you to be truly present as they share their best day ever with you. Plus, there may be a pop quiz after the ceremony, so you should really pay attention during the whole thing!

Well…This thing isn’t going to start itself, so let’s get to it!

Invocation: introduction to the ceremony

Officiant to the Reception:

Dear friends and family, we are gathered here today to witness and celebrate the union of Sarah and Venancio. In the years that they have been together, their love for each other has grown, turning them into the couple that you see before you. Now, they are ready to spend the rest of their lives together as husband and wife.

A true marriage begins well before the wedding day, and the efforts of marriage continue well beyond the ceremony. A brief moment in time, and the stroke of a pen, is all that’s required to create the legal bond of marriage, but it takes a lifetime of love, commitment, and compromise to make marriage durable and everlasting .

Today you both declare your commitment to each other before family and friends.

Objections to the Wedding?

Now, if there is anyone who objects to these two getting married, I'm going to ask you to speak now.. or forever… hold your piece.

<Gun Flash to Congregation, all laughs>

"Yeah..We thought so lol"

Declaration of intent: Verbal declaration to wed

Officiant to Venancio:

“Venancio, do you take Sarah to be your lawfully wedded wife, to love and comfort her for better or worse, in sickness and health, and reap any and all tax benefits for as long as you both shall live?”

Venancio: “I do.”

Officiant to Sarah:

“Do you take Venancio to be your lawfully wedded husband, to love and comfort him, for better or worse, in sickness and health, and reap any and all tax benefits for as long as you both shall live?

Sarah: “I do.”

Vow/Ring Exchange

Officiant to Venancio:

Okay Venancio, now it’s time to put a ring on it. Repeat after me, please.

“Sarah, I give you this ring as a symbol that I will love you, honor you, cherish you, and that I’ll let you have the remote every once in a while, and I’ll try to clean up after myself.”

Officiant to Sarah:

Alright Sarah, now it’s your turn. Repeat after me, please.

“Venancio, I give you this ring as a symbol that I will love you, honor you, cherish you, and that I’ll try not to nag you about spending too much time with the guys, and I may even make you dinner once in a while.”

<Pause til giggles finish>

Transition:

Sarah and Venancio,

Always remember to laugh together. Life can be unpredictable, and there will be times when things don't go according to plan. But if we can find humor in the chaos, we'll get through anything with a smile on our faces. After all, they say that a good sense of humor is the key to a happy marriage, right?

Now with all fun and jokes aside, Sarah and Venancio will receive God's greatest gift today. Another person to share with, grow with, change with, be joyful with, and to stand as one when trials and tribulations enter their lives. The first aspect of putting God first as husband and wife is to obey his instructions for marriage. This is an unbreakable commitment between a man and a woman to grow into one and remain committed to one another. Marriage is not only to be sealed with physical intimacy but also with emotional unity and loyalty. We are commanded to never give up on our spouses, never lose faith, always be hopeful, and endure together through every circumstance, just as God has demonstrated in his love towards us. It is fitting, therefore, that we should on this occasion Begin by asking for God's blessing on this marriage.

<"Please Bow Your Heads As We Pray">

Wedding prayer/Blessing

Our heavenly Father, we ask Your blessing upon these two lives and the home they are establishing today. May the love they have for each other grow deeper and stronger because of their love for You.

Lord, You guided them to each other, now guide them in this new journey as husband and wife. As they walk down this path, light their way so they may keep their eyes focused on Your will, their hands holding fast to Your truth, their feet firmly planted in Your word, and their hearts bound together by Your love. This we pray in Your name.

Amen.

Pronouncement

Well, after that touching exchange I guess there’s only one thing left to do, and that’s for me to do my part!

By the power vested in me, by the state of Texas, I now pronounce you husband and wife!

<Awkward pause>

Well go on… Kiss her then!

<Congregation Applauds>

Officiant to Congregation:

Ladies and gents, it gives me great pleasure to present to you Mr. and Mrs. Escobedo!

Well folks that wraps up the (clears throat) “Formal” portion of today's proceedings.

Sarah and Venancio will greet you in the reception area in just a bit. As we all exit, please grab your chair and head to your assigned table in the reception area! You will find a matching image to your assigned table in accordance with the seating chart to the right of the reception entrance.

On behalf of Sarah and Venancio, I’d like to thank you all for coming. Now let’s get out of here, and get on with the party!
