Woodruff Vow Renewal 2022
Announcements Unplugged Ceremony
Invocation:
Welcome family and friends! We are gathered here today to witness and celebrate the reunion of Ivan &Taylor.
Ivan and Taylor, you were first joined in marriage 2 years ago. At the time, you did not know what direction your careers would take, where you might live, or what surprises the future would bring. But today, you have found yourselves here commemorating another year of your union.
Do you both wish to renew the marriage vows that you made 2 years ago?
Couple (in unison):
We do.
Renewal
Officiant:
Ivan, do you reaffirm your love for Taylor?
IVAN: I do.
And will you continue to love, honor, and cherish Taylor in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, for better for worse, and be faithful for as long as you both shall live?
IVAN: I will
Officiant (to Partner 2):
Taylor, do you reaffirm your love for Ivan?
Taylor: I do.
And will you continue to love, honor, and cherish Ivan in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, for better for worse, and be faithful for as long as you both shall live?
Partner 2: I will.
Sand ceremony
Marriage is also about the blending of two distinct lives, and two distinct personalities, into a new, collaborative and meaningful partnership. While both will stay whole, their paths will join and become one.
To honor their reaffirmed love for each other, they’ve asked us to join them as they perform a sand ceremony, symbolizing the sand blending of 2 into 1.
Ivan and Taylor will each take different colored sand and pour it into this single jar.
They’ll take this jar home with them, so that every day they’ll be reminded of how their individual strengths and passions can blended into a shared beautiful life.
Exchanging of Rings
Officiant (to couple):
On your wedding day, you both exchanged wedding bands as a symbol of your continued commitment and love toward one another.
I hope that through your marriage you have had the opportunity to reflect on moments of strength and love that fulfilled the meaning of the rings.
Would you both please take off your rings now and exchange them with one another.
Officiant (Ivan):
Ivan, now place your ring on Taylor’s finger and repeat after me.
With this ring, I renew our marriage vows and promise my continued love and
commitment.
Officiant (Taylor):
Taylor, now place your ring on Ivan’s finger and repeat after me.
“With this ring, I renew our marriage vows and promise my continued love and commitment.”
Affirmations Officiant (to guests):
To commemorate the renewal of Ivan and Taylor’s vows, the couple has prepared affirmations for one another.
(Partner 1 – Ivan’s vows
(Partner 2 – Taylor’s vows
Blessing:
Before we conclude the renewal of vows, I’d like to invite everyone to stand and bow their heads in prayer. Lord, we are gathered here today to celebrate the union of two of your devoted servants, Ivan and Taylor. We are thankful you have blessed their marriage; they have benefited, may you bring them many more years of happiness.
Memorial candle lightening
As another representation of their love the couple wants to symbolize their union with the lighting of a Unity Candle. They also want to dedicate this special unity for the loved ones before us who are here in spirit with us.
Sheila Goodson-Woodruff, Lulu Woodruff (my grandmother) and Louis and Beula Cross (Ivan's Grandparents)
Ivan and Taylor, the two separate candles symbolize your individual lives. Lighting the center candle represents that your two lives are now being joined together as one forever.
Please pick up the lighted candles and together light the center candle.
As you light this candle today, may the brightness of the flame shine throughout your lives. May it give you courage strength reassurance and joy for your family.
Each year on your anniversary you will relight your candles and relive your vows.
Pronouncement Officiant (to guests):
Ivan and Taylor may your love for one another continue to grow daily and hope you enjoy many more years of fruitful marriage together.
You may seal your unity with a kiss!
