Marriage is a bond to be entered into only after considerable thought and reflection. As with any aspect in life, it has cycles, it has ups and downs, and trials and triumphs. With full understanding of this Kasey and Scott have come here today to be joined as one in marriage.

Others would ask, at this time, “who gives the bride in marriage”, but, as a woman is not property to be bought and sold, given and taken, I simply ask if she comes of her own free will and if she has her family’s blessing.

Kasey is it true that you come of your own free will and accord?

Opening

I’d like to welcome the family, the friends, and most importantly, the couple Kasey and Scott. Each and every one of us is honored to be here celebrating this incredibly joyous occasion, witnessing the most important day in their lives together. As Kasey and Scott take their relationship to the next level, this gathering is a testament to love and solidarity.

Some might say that Kasey and Scott are already committed to each other, and I wouldn’t disagree. But today, they are proclaiming that commitment not only to us, the people closest to them, but to the world as well. They are saying, “we love each other, we support each other, and we want to spend the rest of our lives together.”

Sam Keen wrote “We come to love not by finding a perfect person, but by learning to see an imperfect person perfectly.”

The Couple’s Story

Now let’s take a moment to learn the story about Kasey and Scott since we are gathered here for this special occasion. Well, we are in the 21st Century after all… The modern age of technology. Swipe, swipe left and a magical swipe right… Ta da! I found a curious soul. One that captured the attention, needs and desires of our special couple here in front of us today.

If anyone knows Kasey, then they know that her partner must love riding motorcycles and, of course to go fishing! Among this Scott and Kasey was looking for a great friendship, someone to hang out with and to enjoy dinners with.

The couple met at Starbucks to have a cup of coffee for their first date, to which Scott was polite and a great conversationalist.

Sometimes as we get older or struggle with illness and disabilities we find it hard to trust and it takes longer to just free fall in love. This was the situation for Kasey. She had to overcome obstacles to fall in love again and learn to trust. With Scott she did. She had been sick for a long period of time and he patiently stood by her side. That is when Kasey knew she was falling in love with Scott.

The ties that bind grew even stronger when Kasey felt that Scott was a man who was sincere about taking good care of her, was good to her, and showed her respect.

The couple finds excitement knowing that they will take equal care for one another as the relationship continues to grow as the years go by. They are learning that the longer they are together, the stronger the couple becomes.

Scott had and interesting proposal story that I am sure you all are curious to know.

Scott and Kasey were out riding motorcycles when Kasey’s back brakes failed to work properly so she fell to the ground and her shoe fell off. Scott, like a gentleman, knelt to the ground to tie her shoe and asked her to marry him.

What a beautiful spur of the moment and perfect timing proposal! I love this story because it is so unique like our honored couple. So let us get into the Wedding Ceremony shall we?

Kasey and Scott come before us pledging their love and their hearts to one another. May they be true and loving, may their hearts be filled with kindness and understanding, may they forgive each other’s weaknesses, and laugh together often. May they be friends, companions, and partners, continuing to meet the joys and sorrows of life as one. As the years pass, and they move from one chapter in their life together to the next, may their love continue to deepen and mature, and may their home forever be a place of love and joy.

Ring Ceremony

Now we come to the blessing of the rings. May these rings be blessed as symbols of this affectionate union. These two lives are now joined in one unbroken circle. Wherever they go, they will always return to one another in their unity. These two find in each other the love for which all human beings yearn. They promise to grow in understanding and in compassion. The home which they establish together will be such a place of sanctuary and friendship. These rings, on their fingers, symbolize the Spirit of Love in their hearts.

And, the love you two have shown for each other today is deeper than the readings or other words shared. It is a love that will allow the relationship to thrive through good times and bad. It is a love that will be a part of everything you do as individuals and as the wonderful couple we see before us today.

It is with great joy having witnessed your marriage vows, along with all who are assembled here today and by the authority I behold, I am honored to pronounce you united and legally married.
