Dearly Beloved, friends, family, and honored Guests, you may be seated.
We want to welcome you here today to witness this marriage, in this incredibly beautiful location which if you've noticed... has no windows and no doors. (Maniacal laugh)
For those of you who do not know who I am, my name is Roger T. Dean. I am here in this current capacity to officiate this ceremony as we gather together today to join Curtis Patrick Eichelberger, Anna Mae Galer, and their love in the magical union that we call marriage.
You are all here to witness as they join together in this commitment. I stand before you as the officiant and Curtis' best man. However, as a lawyer by trade, I hear commitment and I am immediately brought back to my 1L Contracts class. I am certain that these two are perfectly aware of the contractual nature of this union, and if they are not, we can discuss that later. Get your people in touch with my people. All jokes aside, a contract is a legally binding agreement. Therefore, more so than any other, this particular one should not be entered into lightly, but thoughtfully and earnestly and with a profound realization and comprehension of its obligations and responsibilities.
Curtis and Anna, please remember that love, loyalty, and understanding are the foundations of a happy and enduring home and marriage.
In the time that they’ve known each other, these two have had countless adventures together such as becoming first-time homeowners. No big deal, right? A little bit of a humble brag in this economy if I do say so myself, but I also live in New York where the rent is too da... Real it back in, Roger, focus!
Where was I?... Oh yes! They have made joyful memories such as adopting Kuja their small horse, I mean greyhound dog. I've never met Kuja, but in pictures she is huge.
As wonderful as their love is, we all know there have been challenging times as well when they have supported and comforted each other such as the global pandemic that impacted millions of people worldwide and the effects are still being felt to this day. Curtis and Anna were there for each other in that way and when it mattered.
And with faith, trust, and a little bit of pixie dust, they’ve grown into the couple you see before you. Now, they are ready to spend the rest of their lives together, building new memories as life partners.
The foundations of a true marriage begin long before the wedding day, and the efforts of marriage continue long after the ceremony ends. Your parents who are here with us today, can attest to this. A brief moment in time and the stroke of a pen are all it takes to form the legal bond of marriage, but it takes a lifetime of love, commitment, and compromise to make marriage durable and everlasting for both parties.
When you asked me to share this special day with you, my heart filled with joy. I can’t imagine two people better suited for each other. I’ve had the privilege of knowing Curtis for over ten years, you both for a fraction of that, but in that time, I've watched Planes, Trains, and Automobiles for the first time, as Curtis and the Eichelberger family supported Anna with a holiday tradition of hers. I watched Anna support my very best friend during his New York comedy scene debut. I’ve witnessed your respect and love for each other as you weathered ups and downs together, strengthened by your patience, understanding, laughter, and honesty.
Today, you declare your commitment and conviction to each other. Curtis and Anna will now share their vows.
