“The Art of a Good Marriage” by Wilfred Arlan Peterson
A good marriage must be created.
In the marriage, the little things are the big things…
It is never being too old to hold hands.
It is remembering to say “I love you” at least once each day.
It is never going to sleep angry.
It is having a mutual sense of value and common objectives.
It is standing together and facing the world.
It is forming a circle of love that gathers in the whole family.
It is speaking words of appreciation and demonstrating
gratitude in thoughtful ways.
It is having the capacity to forgive and forget.
It is giving each other an atmosphere in which each can grow.
It is a common search for the good and the beautiful.
It is not only marrying the right person,
it is being the right partner
When you open your heart, you open your world. Turn the corner and explore that world. When you find someone to share it with, it becomes much more beautiful. And now that you have found each other, share all the good and bad that comes your way,
Help each other to find the lessons the world has to offer you. Now let us proceed to the reason we are here, to join the two of you in marriage.
Do you Mat, take Vickie for your lawfully wedded wife? For better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, cherish her so long as you both shall live?
Mat, I do.
Do you Vickie, take Mat for your lawfully wedded husband? For better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, cherish him so long as you both shall live?
Vickie, I do.
May I have the rings please? These rings represent the love you have for each other. As a circle, the ring has no beginning and no end, so your love has no beginning and no end.
Mat, please repeat after me as you place this ring on Vickie’s finger. Vickie, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love and devotion to you. Please wear it as a reminder of that love and devotion.
Vickie, please repeat after me as you place this ring on Mat’s finger. Mat, I give you this ring as a symbol of my love and devotion to you. please wear it as a reminder of that love and devotion.
As the two of you have opened your hearts to each other, declared your love for each other, said your vows, and exchanged rings. By the power vested in me by the State of Hawaii, it is my honor to pronounce you Husband and Wife.
You may now share your first kiss as a married couple.
May I present for the first time, Mr. and Mrs. Matthew and Victoria Kamai.
