INVOCATION

To be 'married' is the joining of two people in matrimony. It used to mean that one would leave their separate life behind, or take another’s name. But rightfully so, traditions evolve.

While marriage is, indeed, the joining of two people’s lives, it is also the joining of two individuals. And I’m privileged to be the person to join you two together, individuals who met by chance more than twenty years ago at a woman’s retreat, and whose relationship has grown throughout the years.

So today, as you commemorate your friendship and partnership by taking a vow of matrimony as you promise to continue to support, protect and celebrate one another, I invite you to face each other as you join hands and declare your intent.
