THE GIVING OF THE BRIDE
JOSH:
- TO JENNA'S DAD -
"Who gives this woman to be married to this man?"
JENNA'S DAD: “I do.” or “Her mother and I.”
JOSH: “You may be seated.”
OPENING
***You guys will be facing me, or each other, holding hands of course***
“I would like to welcome you all here today. Bryan and Jenna truly appreciate you coming to share in their special day. The love and support their friends and family have shown speaks volumes. Having all of you here is part of what makes this day so special for them.
Today, at this show-stopping event, we finally get to see Jenna and Bryan… make the transition from failing adults to prevailing adults. And by that I mean, folding your laundry right after it’s done in the dryer, refolding the clothes you tried on and then proceeded to take off and threw on a pile of clean clothes that you haven’t folded yet. Let’s be quite honest, my wife and I have been married for almost 4 years now and we still have countless adult fails. So good luck guys. We all can’t be super adults like Jake and Hoagie. Now, back to what I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted… by myself. Today marks the day that Jenna and Bryan finally tie the knot and share a lifetime of happiness together.
So before we all pit out our undershirts, let's get this show on the road.
We have come here to share in this formal commitment Jenna and Bryan make to one another, to offer our love and support to this union, and to allow Jenna and Bryan to start their married life together surrounded by the people dearest and most important to them.
Marriage is perhaps the greatest and most challenging adventure of human relationships. No ceremony can create your marriage, only you can do that. Through love and patience, through dedication and perseverance, through talking and listening, helping and supporting and believing in each other; through tenderness and laughter; through learning to forgive, learning to appreciate your differences, and by learning to make the important things matter, and to let go of the rest.

VOWS
Written by both
RING EXCHANGE & VOWS
***You guys will repeat each line after me (individually).
Josh: "With this ring I wed you and pledge to share my life openly with you, as my husband/wife and pledge to share my life openly with you, to speak the truth to you in love. I promise to honor and tenderly care for you, to cherish, and encourage your fulfillment as an individual through all the changes of our lives."
UNITY SAND CEREMONY
"As you join your lives together, the two separate bottles of sand symbolize your individuality and suggest your individual decisions to marry one another. As each of you pours in your separate colors, it illustrates your uniqueness as individuals. As the two of you pour your colors simultaneously, this is symbolic of your coming together as husband and wife, as the two become one, and as your family begins.”
PRONOUNCEMENT
“Without further ado, by the authority vested in me by the state of Illinois, and these comfortable shoes, I now pronounce you both husband and wife.”
