"It was an amazing experience being able to marry my niece and her fiancé. I am not new to public speaking but you add crying family members into the mix and it gets tough. This was an experience I will never forget and the feedback I got made me feel like I did a great job. I can't wait to do it again. "

Jammie: Who supports Carley as she and Tristan take this next step together?
Chad: Her mother and I do.
Tristan walks to Carley and holds her hand to walk her to Jammie. Carley hand your flowers to Cortlyn. Hold hands facing each other.
Jammie: All of us family and friends of this wonderful couple, have come together to celebrate a most joyous occasion. We are fortunate to have been asked to witness the most important transition in a relationship between two people. This is the transition in which two people in love commit themselves to each other in word and action.
They take this step not because they need to, but because they want to. Not because momma Julie wants a kid off payroll but because they desire to publicly pledge their love and commitment to each other. Tristan and Carley we are honored to bear witness to this transition and we know that you are not taking this step lightly. Many here have watched as your love for each other has grown and matured from the awkwardness of that first date, into the perfection that you manifest today. Today we are privileged witnesses to this important step, as you proclaim your love for all the world to see.
Tristan and Carley would like to recognize some special women in their lives. They would like to present these roses to their mothers and women that have impacted their lives as a symbol of their eternal gratitude.
Tristan and Carley take the flowers down to hand out and come back to Jammie when you are done.
Thank you for your unconditional motherly love, for your unyielding strength in times of hardship, for the selfless sacrifices you have made for these two, and for always supporting them and providing wisdom and counsel as they grew from children into adults and became the people that they are today.
Tristan and Carley, I want to talk to you for a moment, as big momma, to my niece and soon to be nephew. One of the most amazing gifts in life is to find someone who knows all your flaws, differences, and mistakes, yet still loves everything about you.
Tristan, rumor has it you tend to bitch a lot. Carley, rumor has it you are kind of a hot mess express and have trouble picking up after yourself. You both know this about each other and still you love each other. You look past those faults and accept each other the way you are. There will be days it is hard to accept that, but I want you to remember this day and the promises you make to each other. Forgive each other, Laugh at each other, Always be there for each other.
I love that it was Tristan’s persistent stalking of Carley on Instagram that Carley was attracted to. She knows he is driven and when he wants something he will go after it. Supporting each other’s hopes and dreams and growing together is what marriage is all about.
Tristan, you told me you knew you wanted to marry Carley when you were on a trip to the Dominican with your family. I don’t think it was coincidence that you asked her to marry you in the Dominican with her family. The two of you have grown up with different people supporting you. Today you bring those families together and Tristan your family becomes Carley’s family and Carley’s family becomes yours. Those two families will continue to support you both.
Tristan, I know you aren’t marrying Carley for her ability to clean, cook, drive your car without chipping your windshield or the way she flings vegetables at fancy restaurants.
And, Carley, I know you aren’t marrying Tristan for his ability to fall asleep without tossing and turning, or his need for his own personal space away by himself, or because you just wanted more opportunities to let their family dog “Cash” out of the house to run away.
Tristan, it’s your sense of humor, the way you show love to Carley, it’s giving her necklaces on valentines and your ability to be patient.
Carley, it’s your willingness for adventure, your supportive positive attitude and as Tristan says, he just loves the way you are.
As you enter marriage today always remember those reasons. Lean on each other’s strengths. Forgive each other’s weaknesses.
Tristan and Carley decided to share their vows in private before the ceremony. However, today we are here to witness a commitment of marriage.
Carley, will you take Tristan to be your husband; will you love, honor, and cherish him, now and forevermore? Do you promise to hold Tristan’s hand, look him in the eyes, and listen to his hopes, dreams, and thoughts? Do you promise to always listen to him bitch? Even when you are not in the mood?
Carley: I do
Jammie: Tristan will you take Carley to be your wife; will you love, honor, and cherish her, now and forevermore? Will you hold her hand, listen to her needs, put up with her messes and do the little things that brighten her day? Do you promise to tease her make silly jokes, and come up with new creative ways to drive her crazy?
Tristan: I do
Jammie: Ask the ring bears for the rings
Jammie: The wedding rings seal the vows of marriage and represents a promise of everlasting love. The circle reminded the ancients of eternity, it is without a beginning or end; while gold is like your love, so incorruptible that it cannot be tarnished by use or time.
As you Carley, place this ring on Tristan’s finger, please repeat after me:
I give you this ring
As a symbol of my commitment to you
And to our partnership in life
You have my heart always.
Carley puts the ring on Tristan’s finger.
As you, Tristan, place this ring on Carley’s finger, please repeat after me:
I give you this ring
As a symbol of my commitment to you
And to our partnership in life
You have my heart always
Tristan puts the ring on Carley’s finger.
Jammie: As Tristan and Carley have shared their vows and declared their intentions of marriage, we would like to share a tradition of celebration. A tradition from two young adults that were smart enough to know shots will get you tipsy faster and cheaper than any other alcohol. As you came in you were able to pick a shot, some with alcohol and others without. Nonalcoholic shots are merely water infused with lemon. The alcoholic shots are tequila, orange juice and grenadine. Both mixed with both bitter and sweet, with the different flavors combining in a way that makes each unique shot. Life will have its bitter moments and its sweet moments, unique to this couple. Just as you share from these shots together, you will share moments in life together – some sweeter, and some more bitter. But ultimately, because you are doing it together, the sweet moments will be sweeter, and the bitter moments less bitter.
Please let’s all take a shot with the couple. The sweetness of it is our wish for your married life!
Everyone take shots
We are almost there; you have just sworn your love to each other and promised to support and remain committed to each other. In just a moment, I will make the pronouncement that everyone has been waiting to hear. But before we do that, and while I still have everyone’s attention, I want to wish you Tristan and Carley a wonderful life together and remind you to never take the other for granted. As you settle into married life together, remember that you are stronger as a pair than as individuals. You will make mistakes. We all do. Chad Lux probably more than most. But the key is to remember the reasons why you are together, why you got married, and why you love the other person. Remember these reasons, communicate with each other, have a good laugh or cry, and as long as you do so together, you will be able to get through anything.
You have declared before all of us that you will live together in marriage. You have made life-long promises to each other, through your vows and the exchange of wedding rings. Having pledged yourselves each to the other, I do now, pronounce you to be husband and wife.
You may now kiss your bride.
Couple kisses
It is my incredible honor to introduce for the very first time as a married couple, Mr & Mrs Johnson.
