“We are gathered here today in the sight of GOD and these witnesses to unite Steven and
Colleen in the bonds of the holy matrimony.
Love is not always perfect. It is not a fairytale or a storybook, and it does not always come
easy. Love is overcoming obstacles, facing challenges, fighting to be together, holding on,
and never letting go. It is a short word, easy to spell, difficult to define, and impossible to
live without. Love is work, but most of all Love is realizing that every hour, every minute,
and every second was worth it because you did it together.
Ephesians 4:2: “Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love.
Steven: Will you please repeat this vow after me: I (Steven), take you (Colleen), to be my
wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer or for
poorer, in sickness and in health, I promise to love and cherish you
Colleen: Will you please repeat this vow after me: I (Colleen), take you (Steven), to be
my husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better or for worse, for richer
or for poorer, in sickness and in health, I promise to love and cherish you.
RINGS EXCHANGE May we have the rings, please
Steven, please take the ring you have selected for Colleen. As you place it on her finger, repeat after me, With this ring, I thee wed.
Colleen, please take the ring you have selected for Steven. As you place it on his finger, repeat after me: With this ring, I thee wed.
UNITY CANDLE
Steven and Colleen, please light the center candle to symbolize the union of your lives.
Today, as you have lit this candle, may the brightness of the flame shine throughout your lives together.
May the twinkle of this one light be a testimony of your union.
PRONOUNCEMENT
In so much as the two of you have consented together in holy wedlock, Steven and Colleen have witnessed the same before God and this company, by the authority vested in me by the State of North Carolina, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride.
THE NEWLYWEDS KISS.
JUMPING THE BROOM-Close your eyes, hold hands, and jump the broomstick! Take the
leap into your new life together, leaving behind the old certainties and trusting in your love
and your future together, with loved ones cheering you on and your celebrant at your back.
Now they jump the broom.
