The Wedding of Shelby & Whitley

Officiated by Troy Daniel Reece at Bradley Wedding in Canton, North Carolina on July 8th, 2022. Witnessed by Cierra Frady and Tera Reece.

ABOUT THIS WEDDING

"I was asked to perform a same sex Hand-fasting wedding and child baptism for August 6, 2022. I got to meet with the family in June to go over everything they wanted and there dream. But due to unforeseen issues the couple was about to plan on dropping their wedding. I offered to perform the wedding and to do it sooner than planned due the issue and to the possibility of the Supreme Court undertaken the same-sex marriage law and overturn it. I suggested to the couple that go to the local park to perform their wedding, and with all there children there to have them baptized in the river if they still wished. It was a beautiful day but hot. Overall the couple was very happy with the ceremony and plan to hold a actual wedding at a later day when they had the ability to have the support from family and the funds to hold their ceremony, As a pastor I offered my services on that wonderful joyful planed event day. And the children enjoyed the water after the ceremony’s where over and enjoyed asking questions about what Jesus did and what it means for there family. "

Exchange of Rings

Minister: The wedding rings perfectly symbolize the never-ending love you two have for each other. By exchanging these rings, you solidify a lifelong commitment to one another as a gift. The rings serve as a welcome and constant reminder of the bond you've formed with your partner as a physical promise.

Please repeat after me:

I, Shelby, give you, Whitley this ring as a symbol of my enduring love. Just as the circle of the ring completes itself, so you complete me.

I, Whitley, give you, Shelby this ring as a symbol of my enduring love. Just as the circle of the ring completes itself, so you complete me.

Hand-Fasting

Shelby and Whitley, while the agreement you have agreed to have sealed your legal union, it is the fasting of your hands that seals your spiritual commitment to one another. Please join your hands together, Hand to forearm, With wrist touching.

As your hands meet, look into each other’s eyes. Recall the joys and sorrows you have celebrated and endured together. Take note of the support you are feeling, and know that this support will exist for you always. In the tradition of our forefathers, we will now fasten your hands together. As we bind your bodies, so too do we bind your spirits. Your lives, as your hands, are now bound. While the ribbon binding your hands will eventually be removed, know that the union binding your hearts is permanent knot, a gift that will bless you for the rest of your days. Please pull your hand out while pulling your cord end.
