Welcome Statement:
Welcome Friends, Family, and loved ones! We are gathered together today in the sight of God, his son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, and in the sight of each other as witnesses to celebrate the marriage of Dylan and Mckenzie. We hold Dylan and Mckenzie up to the Lord in fellowship as a family, and a community of loved ones, to bless them as these two become one in what we pray will be a long, happy, and healthy life together!
Prayer:
Before we begin, let us bow our heads and pray that God bless Dylan and Mckenzie and their new life together.
Heavenly Lord, Jesus,
We pray for your blessings upon Dylan and Mckenzie and we ask that you
walk with them together as you’ve walked with them in their lives to this point.
We ask, father, that you keep them committed to you, Lord, and that you keep them
committed to one another as they begin this journey as one flesh, in your name.
Lord, you’ve told us in your word, in the book of Jeremiah, that you know the plans you have for us… Plans to prosper us and not to harm us, but to give us hope and a future!
Lord, we ask that for Dylan and Mckenzie, today, and we pray that you will heap
blessings upon them as they walk together with you from today forward.
In Jesus’ Holy name we pray,
Amen
Family Blessing:
Who gives the bride today?
Wedding Sermon:
Ladies and gentlemen, when God created Adam at the beginning of all things, He said to Himself in Genesis 2:18, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” It’s not a part of our makeup to be alone. God didn’t design us that way. He made us so that we need to depend on one another. He made us so that we need each other to hold us up, and sometimes carry us through the rough stuff. He made us so that when we triumph, we triumph that much more with each other than we do when we’re alone.
Marriage is a venerated institution, and one deserving of deep reverence. Today we observe the union of Dylan and Mckenzie in holy matrimony, a commitment they have chosen to undertake with all the sincerity that it warrants.
While marriage is a sacred and serious tradition, it is also cause for tremendous joy. Married life is full of surprises, adventures, and memory-making – all made possible by the enduring power of love. When Dylan and Mckenzie finalize this union, they will begin a new life of partnership, one defined by shared hopes, dreams, and successes.
(Addressing couple) Dylan and Mckenzie, as you learn to live as one; you will encounter many challenges that can help you grow. Spend time doing the things that make life precious – cooperate with each other, always make time to laugh together, and never lose appreciation for the love that you share. Remember, too, to adhere to the vows that you will make today. Seek strength from each other, give hope to each other, and let your trials help you grow together. They say love can build bridges and climb mountains — and they're right. You will find that as it grows and matures over time, your love for one another will prove both fulfilling and empowering.
Yes, there will be challenges in life, but the strength of your bond will offer you protection against life's storms. Always make your relationship a priority, and continue to nurture each other. Through a commitment to love, and with the power of faith, together you will be able to navigate any obstacles that come your way.
In fact, the Apostle Paul spoke about how for most people, marriage is necessary in 1 Corinthians 7. He also gave us a vision of holy love in that same book a few chapters later.
He writes, “Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
Mckenzie and Dylan, I want to urge you to hold to that vision of your love for one another, because that is the kind of love God has planned for your lives. Dylan, God has a plan for you, and from this day forward, that plan involves Mckenzie and your little baby girl. Mckenzie, God has a plan for you, too. He always has, and that plan, from this day forward, involves Dylan and your precious baby girl.
Vows:
Keeping this knowledge in your hearts and minds, it’s time to declare yourselves to one another.
Dylan and Mckenzie, I invite you to express your sacred vows to one another. Please face each other as you declare these vows before God and in the presence of your family and friends.
Dylan, you may start.
Mckenzie, now is the time for your promise.
Declaration of Intent:
Dylan and Mckenzie, please join hands. Under the eyes of God, Dylan, do you take Mckenzie to be your lawfully wedded Wife? Do you promise to support her completely and love her unconditionally, so long as you both shall live?
Dylan: I do.
Under the eyes of God, Mckenzie, do you take Dylan to be your lawfully wedded Husband? Do you promise to support him completely and love him unconditionally, so long as you both shall live?
Mckenzie I do.
Very well, let us proceed
Ring Exchange:
It is now time to exchange the rings. The circle formed by each ring is a symbol of your love and eternal commitment to each other. May these rings remind you always of these sacred promises you've made to each other today in the company of your family and friends.
Dylan, you will go first. Please repeat after me as you place the ring on the hand of your loved one.
Mckenzie with this ring, I promise to love, honor, and cherish you, and to hold you up in faith, in good times or bad, in rich or poor, and through whatever God has in store for us, as long as I live.
(Put the ring on Mckenzie's finger)
Mckenzie, your turn to repeat.
Dylan with this ring, I promise to love, honor, and cherish you, and to hold you up in faith, in good times or bad, in rich or poor, and through whatever God has in store for us, as long as I live.
