Officiated by Melissa Mayo Webber at Addy Sea in Bethany Beach, Delaware on September 9th, 2022.
"My daughter and new son asked me to officiate as many young people do today. They wanted someone they knew and cared about. I took 6 weddings scripts; cut, pasted, added, edited to come up with this one. They had no edits so I got it right…for them. I practiced a few times not wanting to cry as mother of the bride. I collected and calmed myself right before. The mic was great so I could speak in my normal voice. I made a folder to hold so it looked nice. I turned the mic towards them when they spoke and moved out of the way as best I could for the kiss. It went very well for us. "

INVOCATION
OFFICIANT TO THE RECEPTION
"Thank you all for coming. We gather here today to celebrate with Brian and Sara as they proclaim their love and commitment before their family and friends. From this beautiful setting, surrounded by the beach, ocean and the historic Addy Sea, we break from our usual routines and daily lives to witness a unique moment. Brain and Sara have chosen each one of you to be here today and they are so happy to share this moment with the ones that are closest to them. They have known most of you many years. You have watched them grow up; you went to school with them or you worked with them. Because you are the ones who have supported them and known them so well, it only makes sense for you to help them celebrate the most important occasion of their lives so far. Sara and Brian would like to give a special thanks to their parents and their siblings; Sarah and Max.
When Sara first told us about Brian and actually wanted us to meet him, we knew he was special. While Sara loves fun and adventure, she is serious about family and we knew this man would likely become family. She told us some things about Brian and we, ever the critical thinkers, began to build an identity for him. He was accomplished, studied international policy, spoke Arabic, worked for an infrastructure firm - we suspected CIA. Many happy years later he is with the FBI. What we came to love about Brian was his unwavering support of Sara as a life partner in love, adventure, taking on and weathering challenges. They support one another and allow one another to soar. And they laugh; I hear them laughing all the time. They survived New York City during Covid so we know they can make it together through anything.
We feel blessed to know these two wonderful young people have each other now and forever as family today. So we gather to rejoice, with and for them, in the new married life they now undertake together."
