DECLARATION OF INTENT AND VOWS EXCHANGE
OFFICIANT TO PARTNER A
Kristin and Steven, you have chosen to write your vows, and it is with these words you express your binding promises to love, honor, and cherish one another. If you are ready to make these promises to each other, I invite you now to face each other and declare your intentions. Kristin, we will begin with you.
KRISTIN READS HER VOWS.
OFFICIANT TO PARTNER B
Steven, you may now read your vows.
STEVEN READS VOWS.
RING EXCHANGE
OFFICIANT TO THE COUPLE
"Kristin and Steven, you have both chosen to wear rings as a reminder of these promises. People often say wedding bands are a perfect circle, with no beginning and no end. But these rings did have a beginning. The stones were formed a long time ago deep within the earth.
Eventually, a series of lucky events caused them to rise to the surface, where someone dug them up. Metal was then liquefied in a furnace - molded, cooled, and painstakingly polished. Something beautiful was made from raw elements.
Love is like that. It comes from humble beginnings, and through a combination of serendipity and effort, imperfect beings shape it into something extraordinary. It's the process of making something beautiful where there was once nothing at all. As you look at these rings over the years, I hope you remember that. You've created something invaluable, and just as I know you'll protect these rings, I'm confident you'll protect the commitments you've made to one another today."
OFFICIANT TO PARTNER A
"Kristin, as you place this ring on Steven's finger, repeat these words after me:
This ring symbolizes my love for you and the commitments we made today."
PARTNER A REPEATS THE WORDS AS THEY PLACE THE RING ON PARTNER B'S FINGER.
OFFICIANT TO PARTNER B
"Steven, as you place this ring on Kristin's finger, repeat these words after me: This ring symbolizes my love for you and the commitments we made today."

SAND CEREMONY
OFFICIANT TO THE COUPLE
"Kristin and Steven, today you join your separate lives to make one. The two separate bottles of sand symbolize your separate lives, separate families, and separate sets of friends: they represent all that you are and all that you will ever be as an individual. They also represent your lives before today. As these two containers of sand are emptied, the individual containers of sand no longer exist, but will be joined together as one. And just as these grains of sand can never be separated neither will your love."
THE COUPLE EMPTIES THEIR BOTTLES OF SAND INTO THE NEW VESSEL.
PRONOUNCEMENT
OFFICIANT TO THE COUPLE
"By the power vested in me by the state of Maryland and American Marriage Ministries, I pronounce you Husband and Wife!
Steven, you may now kiss your bride."
