"I've been able to officiate weddings for the last 5 years, but this wedding was so big, important, and major. Why? 1. I planned and coordinated the wedding. 2. The bride is also my cousin. 3. Her wedding was my very FIRST TIME being able to officiate! Yes, I was nervous. Yes, I was freaking out a bit prior! Yes, I was antsy... But when it came down to the ceremony getting ready to begin, my confidence level all of a sudden was on 100%. The happy couple and the onslaught of beautiful family and friends enjoyed and appreciated my simple, yet sweet approach to the ceremonial vows, as well as their personal touches such as their Sand ceremony. I am happy to have been able to be a part of their wonderful moment in so many ways, but being able to officially marry them was a true blessing!"

Dearly Beloved and Honored Guests,
We are gathered together here to join Raven Darcia Griffin and Dirck Jansen Hoagland, Sr. in the spiritual and lawful union of marriage.
It is a blessing and joy of mine to officiate this wedding, as the bride is not only a bride, but my beautiful cousin, and her husband-to-be is amazing. They both understand and realize that this contract is not to be entered into lightly but thoughtfully and seriously, and with a deep realization of its obligations and responsibilities. Please remember that love, loyalty, and understanding are the foundations of a happy, crazy, exciting and enduring home.

We will now do a sand ceremony with the couple and their blended children. In blending the colored sand, it represents the blending of a beautiful family that can never be separated, just as the impossibility of separating grains of sand.
