Welcome, everyone! We are gathered here today to join this man and this woman in the bonds of matrimony, which is an honorable estate and is to be entered into after much thought and with an abundance of love.
Marriage is the joyful uniting of a couple whose care and affection and understanding have developed into a deep and abiding love. Marriage is the union of two individuals in heart, body, mind, and soul. Therefore, marriage is not to be entered into lightly, but honestly, and deliberately.
(Marilou to Douglas and Terri),
Douglas xxxx, will you receive this woman as your wedded wife, to give yourself to her in love and in honor, in faithfulness and in tenderness, to live with her and to cherish her from this day forward?
Terri xxxx, will you receive this man as your wedded husband, to give yourself to him in love and in honor, in faithfulness and in tenderness, to live with him and to cherish him from this day forward?
(Marilou to the Guests and to Douglas and Terri),
Douglas, would you please place the ring on Terri’s finger and repeat after me: With this ring, I thee wed, and forever pledge my love and devotion.
Terri, would you please place the ring on Douglas’ finger and repeat after me: With this ring, I thee wed, and forever pledge my love and devotion.
(After the reading of the vows and the placing of the rings, Marilou says to Douglas and Terri),
By giving and receiving your vows, you have consented to be joined together in wedlock and have pledged yourselves to each other for as long as you both shall live, and have witnessed the same before these family members and friends.
Therefore, on this day, in accordance with the authority vested in me by the State of New York, I do hereby pronounce you husband and wife.
Douglas, you may kiss your bride!
(Marilou, to the Guests)
May I present to you the newly married couple of
Douglas and Terri xxxx!
