Friends and family, we have joined here today to share with Carlos and Katie an important moment in their lives. My name is LeRoy and it is my privilege to preside over this ceremony today before you, as witnesses, to join Carlos and Katie together in matrimony. In their time together, they have seen their love and understanding of each other grow and blossom, and now they have decided to live out the rest of their lives as one.

STATEMENT OF INTENT

The marriage contract is a most solemn one and not to be entered into lightly, but thoughtfully and seriously with deep realization of its obligations and responsibilities.

Let us ask a blessing on this union. Father, we come before you on this beautifully created day with grateful hearts to celebrate in the love story and the union of Carlos and Katie. We ask You to bless their marriage beyond measure, to root their family in love and kindness, to hold them in your grip when they feel uncertain or overwhelmed by life’s challenges and to provide peace in their hearts with the knowing that they each have a partner who will go to the ends of the earth with them and that together, every part of life is sweeter and only grows more so each day. Thank You for this celebration of love and may those gathered here share this journey with Carlos and Katie through faithful friendship for all of their days. Since you first met as co-workers sharing a career that seeks to improve community health, wellness, and safety, you have grown stronger as individuals but also together over these past three years, united in your vision for making the world around you a better place and committed to serving others selflessly.

You’ve had support of your family, particularly your dad, Carlos. Charlie has been there for you and you’ve asked me to express your gratitude to him for all that he has done for you.

Katie, your grandparents, Opal, Dale and George have been your inspiration and made you the woman you are today, and we want them to know their influence in your life means the world to you as you stand here reflecting on how meaningful their love and support have been to you.

And now … having grown together as friends, as partners and as each other’s greatest loves, you have chosen to join your two lives into one with all of the craziness, fun and love that encompasses your relationship.

Carlos, your Bride says that she has a deep, abiding respect for how strong-willed you are. It makes you a man of deep conviction who can make good decisions and stand by them. She loves how funny, smart, and motivated you are to create the life you will share together. She is amazed by the compassion you have for others and it touches her heart to see your kind strength. Katie says you are always supportive of her and she is grateful for such an amazing Groom with whom she can share this day.

Katie, your Groom says he respects that you are strong-minded, responsible and have great respect for others. He admires how resilient you are when tough times come your way and that you are motivated to learn everything life can teach you. Carlos loves that you are funny and have a heart of compassion for others and he is so happy that you are his beautiful Bride.

Carlos and Katie, for thousands of years, couples have exchanged rings as a token of their vows. Your rings are a symbol showing that love has no beginning and no end. By the wearing of your rings, you are stating that even in your uniqueness you have chosen to be bound together as one.
