Wedding Sermon:

Welcome and please be seated. Thank you all for making the commitment to be here today as Megan and Tyler pledge their love for one another and make a truly wonderful commitment of their own. Life is made up of a series of commitments: work, friends, family, community, even to ourselves. But making this marriage commitment to the one you love can be the most fulfilling of one’s entire life. Yes, it is a commitment of time, resources and emotion to another, but marriage is the commitment you also make to yourself. You commit to bettering yourself each and every day working to be the best possible partner you can be for your beloved. This is not just a commitment to give love, but also to allow yourself to be open enough to receive it back. Many of us have experienced the seemingly counterintuitive feeling that giving feels a lot more rewarding than receiving. Your whole body, your mind, your heart is filled with content and joy when you see how positively giving affects those who are receiving. A healthy, happy marriage consists of two partners who are wholeheartedly ready and willing to give and receive just as Megan and Tyler so obviously are. Today is the time for Megan and Tyler to officially make their marriage commitment.

I am reminded of the day I first met Megan Lee several years back; pre-Tyler. She opened up to me about her current relationship. She had no idea what she was truly worth, let alone what kind of man she deserved. I took this opportunity to boost her confidence and become a role model, to prove to her that chivalry is not dead. I treated her to dinner, and demonstrated the respect one deserves from a date. Any man she dated had to pass my test and prove their genuine devotion to my dear friend. I am very proud to announce to you that Tyler passed. He has risen above my expectations, and I am honored to be here today to join these two with the blessing of their dearest family and friends.

Megan and Tyler have prepared a few loving words that they would like to present to each other to memorialize this moment within their hearts.

A ring is an unbroken circle, with ends that have been joined together, and it represents your union. When you look at these rings on your hands, be reminded of this moment, your commitment, and the love you feel for each other today.
