Marriage is a commitment to learning to care for one another in mutually fulfilling ways. It is not a act but a life-long relationship always in the making. Marriage deepens and enriches every facet of life. Happiness is fuller, memories are fresher, commitment is stronger, even anger is felt more strongly, and passes away more quickly. Marriage understands and forgives the mistakes life is unable to avoid. It encourages and nurtures new life. When two people pledge their love and care for each other in marriage, they create a spirit unique unto themselves which binds them closer than any spoken or written words. Marriage is a promise made in the hearts of two people who love each other and the potential of marriage requires a lifetime to fulfill.
I Carry Your Heart With Me
By: e.e. cummings
I carry your heart with me
( I carry it in my heart )
I am never without it
( anywhere I go you go, my dear; and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling ).
I fear no fate
( for you are my fate, my sweet )
I want no world
( for beautiful you are my world, my true )
and it’s you, whatever a moon has always meant and whatever a sun will always sing, is you here, the deepest secret nobody knows.
( here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide )
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart
I carry your heart
( I carry it in my heart )
Twelve years ago today, I pledged to you my love and commitment, it feels just like yesterday. I promised to l love you, honor you, comfort, and keep you. I pledged to be by your side in sickness and in health, in times of want, and times of plenty, for better or worse, for the rest of our lives. We have had all of those things, and you have been by my side as we raised our family, through all the illnesses and hospital stays, we bought our home and paid it off, we have so many happy memories of vacations and times just spent with each other. We have created a life together that I wouldn’t change if given the opportunity. Today, in the presence of God, I renew my vows to you and eagerly awaiting what life may bring us.
I have loved you most of my life. I compared everyone to you and no one could fill your shoes. I loved you even years later when we met up again. I knew I needed you. I knew I was meant to be your wife. I loved you while you were away. I loved you the day we got married and I love you now more than I could have ever imagined. I forgive you for the things I know and I forgive you for the things I may not. I need you by my side and I want to love you for the rest of my life. Please forgive me for all I may have done through the years that hurt you in any way. At this moment, I want to refresh our love and commitment to each other. Not starting over or anew, but moving forward together as one, as it has always meant to be. I love you more than I could ever convey.
