Mitchell / Sykes 10 year Vow Renewal

The Renewal of vows of Tracy Evone Mitchell - Sykes & Bradlee Andrew Sykes

Officiated by Rebecca Lynn Casey at Brad’s Parents House in Lebanon, Virginia on February 7th, 2021. Witnessed by Jason Scott Casey and Logan Wade Mitchell .

ABOUT THIS WEDDING

"I have known Tracy since she was about 7 years old. Her sister was my best friend growing up. We lost her 9 years ago. I was exceptionally nervous since this was my first ceremony. But once I got to reading it was like auto pilot kicked it. I did misspeak in the beginning and I did loose my place a couple times. I also cried right in the middle! We all made it through and Tracy was very happy with the way everything went. That’s all that matters anyway! I am so glad I could do this for them and so grateful they allowed me to be a part of their big day."

Many people believe that entering into marriage is the final step in a romantic relationship. As they see it, a couple meets, gets to know each other, falls in love, decides they want to go through life together, and then takes the final step - Marriage.

But marriage is not meant to be the final step in a couple’s relationship - It is really just the beginning of a grand adventure, that hopefully, will be long and fruitful for each couple.

You have shared the joys, blessings, and Yes, the challenges of married life for 10 years. And, today you wish to reconfirm your commitment to working together to make your marriage grow and blossom in the years to come. May this ceremony, renewing the vows you took to become husband and wife on your wedding day on the 7th day of February 2011, remind you that despite the stresses inevitable in every life, your love, respect, trust and understanding of each other will continue to increase your contentment and heighten your joy in living.

Brad and Tracy have prepared their own vows.

1 Corinthians 13:4 - 8 says

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self seeking, it is not.

Love is not envious or jealous.

Love wants not for itself.

Love is not puffed up, nor does it behave wrongly.

Love speaks not for it’s own.

Love is not easily provoked.

Love is not rude.

Love thinks no evil.

Love does not rejoice in wrong but dwells in the truth.

Love bears all things, believes all things, endures all things, and love never fails.

On your wedding day you exchanged rings as a never - ending circle of love. Rings serve as a reminder of your wedding vows to each other, and your commitment to live in unity, love, and happiness. At this time, it is appropriate to reconfirm the meaning of the rings you wear.

Please join your left hands together so that Brad’s hand is on top. Brad please repeat after me...

Tracy I wear this ring you placed on my hand, February 7th, 2011 as a symbol of my love and commitment to you.

Now, with Tracy’s hand on top, Tracy please repeat after me...

Brad, I wear this ring you placed on my hand on February 7th, 2011 as a symbol of my love and commitment to you.

I ask that you each remember to continue to cherish each other as special and unique individuals, and that you each respect the thoughts and ideas of one another. And, most of all, be able to forgive each other, and not hold grudges against one another. Live each day in love with each other, always being there to give love, comfort, and refuge to each other, in good times and bad.

Brad and Tracy, today you have renewed the promises and vows you made to each other on your wedding day. You have symbolized the renewal of the marriage union by joining hands, the taking of your vows, and by the wearing of your wedding rings.

It is with great pleasure that I conclude the ceremony of renewing the vows of marriage that joined you and binds you as husband and wife. Please, celebrate this renewal of vows and life together with a kiss.

I leave you now with the following words:

May all that you are always be in love.

May all that is love always be in you.

May your love be as beautiful on each day you share as it is on this day of celebration, and may each day you share be as precious to you as the day you first fell in love.

May you always see and encourage the best in each other. May the challenges life brings your way make your marriage even stronger, and may you always be each other’s best friend and greatest love.
