Love Never Fails: 1 Corinthians 13: 4-8
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails
We are gathered together here to join Benjamin Martin and Britney Carozza in the spiritual union of marriage.
This contract is not to be entered into lightly but thoughtfully and seriously, and with a deep realization of its obligations and responsibilities. Please remember that love, loyalty, and understanding are the foundations of a happy and enduring home.
VOWS:
Ben Martin, do you wish now to establish your home with Britney as her husband, to receive her as your wife, to make a home where she will be loved and cared for as long as God grants her life? If so answer, "I do."
Britney Carozza do you wish now to establish your home with Ben as his wife, to receive him as your husband, to make a home where he will be loved and cared for as long as God grants him life? If so answer, "I do."
Love Never Fails: Love is a Choice:
You stand here today because you love each other.
1. You have chosen to focus all your affection, all your commitment, all of the rest of your life on this person.
I want you to look at them.
1. The person whose hand you hold right now, loves you more than any other person in this entire world.
2. They are here in front of these witnesses and in front of God to say, “This is the person I’m going to spend the rest of my life with.”
3. Of all the people in this world, they’ve chosen you.
4. You have chosen to love each other.
a. And you must continue to CHOOSE to love each other.
1. Love is a choice.
2. It’s a commitment.
A. Through good and bad.
B. Through days when you feel like there’s nobody you could love more; C. And days when you feel like there’s nobody you’d like to ring their neck more.
As you hold each other's hands, I want you to realize that these are the hands that are promising to love and cherish you.
These hands are young, smooth and carefree right now but someday will be rough as they work to make a life together.
These are the hands that will hold you when you are sick, wipe the tears away when you are sad, work long hours to make a living for you two to enjoy.
They will become nicked and bruised from all the hard work this marriage will take.
These hands are the hands that will believe in you when no one else does, protect your physical body and your spirit from those that would cause you harm.
These are the hands that will encourage you, lift you up, and rejoice with you in your success.
These hands are “gonna do life together”
Exchange of Rings:
Having love in your hearts, one for another, you have chosen to exchange rings as a sign and symbol of the vows you have made today. May I have the rings?
The rings I hold in my hand are small in size, yet the significance of each of the rings is very large. Their origin, made of a very precious metal, reminds us that love is not cheap nor common.
Ben, Please take your ring, and place it upon the third finger of Britney's left hand, and as you do, repeat this promise after me:
"I give you this ring / as a symbol of my vow, / and with all that I am / and all that I have / I honor you.
Likewise, Britney, Please take your ring, and place it upon the third finger of Ben's left hand, and as you do, repeat this promise after me:
"I give you this ring / as a symbol of my vow, / and with all that I am / and all that I have / I honor you.
You’re a team now.
Love each other
Respect each other
Don’t take each other for granite
Pronouncement:
You have shown your love by the joining of hands, and have made vows of faith and devotion, each to the other, and have sealed those vows by the giving of rings. By the authority vested in me by the State of Ohio, as a Christian Brother of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, I now pronounce that you are husband and wife.
Ben you may kiss your bride.
