TO THE RECEPTION: “As part of their wedding ceremony today, Slater and Bree have asked us to join them in a handfasting ritual to symbolize that their union takes place on a spiritual as well as a physical level. Handfasting or hand tying dates back to ancient Celtic times. It was once the traditional form of marriage and it is the original source of the expression to “tie the knot”. The cord tied around their joined hand symbolizes the joining of their two lives together and also the joining of their two families.“

It symbolizes swiping away the old and welcoming the new."
