Good evening everyone!
On behalf of David and Dianna, I would like to welcome you and thank you all for joining them on this very special occasion.
Traditionally, at weddings, the bride walks down the isle to her waiting groom in a symbolic start to their life together. For the last 11 years, even while they were separated by 170 miles, Dianna and David have lived their lives together, committed to one another, as a team while living their day to day lives separately. Today, they have decided to walk down the isle as partners taking the next step on their journey, no longer living separate, but always together.
(music plays and David and Dianna enter)
As a long time friend, I feel very blessed and honored to have been given the privilege of joining my two friends, David and Dianna, in Marriage today.
We give ourselves freely and generously into the hands of the one we love, and in doing so, each of us receives the love and trust of the other as our most precious gift.
Marriage understands and forgives the mistakes life is unable to avoid; It encourages and nurtures new life, new experiences and new ways of expressing a love that is deeper than life. When two people pledge their love and care for each other, they create a spirit unique unto themselves which binds them closer than any spoken or written words. Marriage is a promise, a potential made in the hearts of two people who love each other - and takes a lifetime to fulfill.
Marriage is also a celebration of family, it is the blending of two families that have been separate up to this moment, but united from this day forward. Blending their different traditions and strengthening the family tree. To honor this uniting of the families, David and Dianna would like to take this time to ask their families blessing.
to Dianna's son;
Connor, do you offer you Mom and David your blessing to be married, and do you Welcome David as a member of your family? (answer)
To Dianna's father;
Kent, do you offer this couple your blessing? Do you welcome David as a member of your family and offer him your support and love? (answer)
to David's mother:
Leslie, Do you offer this couple your blessing? Do you welcome Dianna as a member of your family and offer her your support and love? (answer)
David and Dianna will now share the vows they have prepared for each other.
*(Vows)* David first
Do you have the rings? (hold ring at left hand while pledging)
Do you, David, take Dianna, to love without reservation, to honor and respect her, to provide for her needs as best you can, to protect her from harm, to comfort her in times of distress, to grow with her in mind and spirit, to be open and honest with her, and cherish her everlasting? (I do)
