Hello, everyone. For those of you I haven't met, I'm AJ and it is my great honor to be the officiant of the surprise wedding of my wonderful friends, Lauren and Ray. I know it gives them a tremendous amount of pleasure to have you all here to bare witness to their wedding and their marriage. Thank you all for being here.
I would like to start with a specially prepared reading for the couple:
His stare from across the dance floor was the end of her endings
Her invitation to dance was their first step down the aisle
His hand would be hers to hold forever
His forever was as simple as her smile
She said he was what was missing
He said instantly he knew
She was a question to be answered
And his answer was "I do"
Lauren, are you prepared to marry Ray and to recite your vows to him?
Ray, I vow to be your constant partner,
to help bring your dreams to life,
to love you fiercely and without measure.
Explore the world and its wonders with me.
I give you my hand, my heart, and my word
that I will be your loving wife forevermore.
Ray, are you prepared to marry Lauren and to recite your vows to her?
Lauren, I promise to surprise you,
to amaze you, to make you laugh,
and to help you in your every endeavor.
Dream with me and hold me.
I give you my hand, my heart, and my word
that I will be your loving husband forevermore.
Do you have the rings?
Lauren/Ray- please place the ring on his/her finger as you repeat after me:
This ring with its unending circle
symbolizes my everlasting love for you.
I give you this ring as a sign of our marriage.
I take you as my wife/husband,
my friend and partner in life,
and my one true love.
With my body I honor you,
all that I am I give to you
And all that I have I share with you.
To Quote Robert Fulghum's True Love:
“We’re all a little weird. And life is a little weird.
And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours,
we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness–
and call it love–true love.”
As witness to the union of Lauren and Ray, will you, friends and family, support and uphold them in their marriage now and in the years to come?
If so, the answer is, "WE WILL."
Then, it is with my pleasure that I REINTRODUCE to you,
Ray and Lauren as husband & wife.
Ray, please kiss your bride…
