Hello everyone!

Thank you all for joining us to celebrate Calvin and AJ, and the commitment they are making to each other today. Everyone here is an important part of Calvin and AJ's lives, and your presence here today is a testament to how special they are to you as well.

I met Calvin 7 years ago and have gotten to know him very well. I can honestly say that I think Calvin and AJ are meant for each other. One thing about Calvin is he doesn’t like surprises... I recall Calvin telling me he used to take an exacto knife to the nicely wrapped Christmas presents because he just could not wait until Christmas to know what he’s getting and then he would tape them back up so no one would notice. Or when Calvin searched AJs internet history to find out where AJ planned that surprise trip they were to take. It seemed like you couldn’t keep anything from Calvin. However, there are a few surprises AJ has been able to keep from him. One of those was when AJ told Calvin he was working in Cadillac but he was actually picking out their pet pig Dolly and learning how to take care of her. Another surprise was AJ sending Calvin on a scavenger hunt all over Big Rapids but all clues led Calvin to Kay’s Jewelers in Grand Rapids for a beautiful bracelet AJ had picked out and purchased. I have a feeling you both will have a lifetime of surprises.. some that are a success and some that are ruined because let’s face it.. Calvin won’t stop snooping. But keep trying AJ!

For as long as I’ve known Calvin, he’s been with AJ. To say they have stood the test of time is an understatement. It takes a very special individual to know how to balance Calvin. Someone who can know when to reel Calvin in a bit but also let Calvin just be Calvin. I’m confident AJ is just that.

I’m truly happy and honored to be here today officiating this wedding. May you both have an incredibly happy marriage filled with love, laughter, patience and joy. May you both find strength in each other during tough times and comfort each other in times of sorrow. And know that you will always have the support of your family and friends.
