Greetings

Ladies and gentlemen,

We are gathered here today to celebrate one of life's greatest moments, the joining of two hearts who are both gamers. We’re about to witness the joining of Cy and Jeames in marriage.

For them, out of the routine of ordinary life, something extraordinary has happened. They met each other online, Jeames asked his mom for money to go on a couple of dates, and then they somehow fell in love. They are now making it official with their wedding today.

I am no expert in marriage, but we all know one of the many things you need in a good marriage is this thing called “Romance”.

Romance is showing appreciation in thoughtful ways.

It is setting a couple of hours a day to play videogames together.

It is covering for each other during their team battles in Overwatch.

It is having the capacity to forgive and forget after taking each other out when they do play against one another.

It is the never-ending search for the good and the beautiful in each other.

Romance can be fun, but in the end, it’s all about true unconditional love. Their desire to love each other for life is what we are celebrating here today.

But today is also a celebration for the rest of us, for it is a pleasure for all of us to see this love evolve… kinda like a Pokémon.

It also doesn’t hurt that we get to eat and drink in the process. So here we go!

Unity Candle

Before we continue, I wanted to let you all know that today is also my birthday. Cy and Jeames decided to celebrate this great occasion with these candles… joke lang! I’m kidding of course!

Today, Cy and Jeames have chosen to affirm their love by the lighting of a unity candle. The separate candles symbolize your separate lives, separate families and separate sets of friends. Please light the candles and that together you light the center candle. In doing so, it represents that your two lives will now be joined to one light. This also represents the joining together of your two families and sets of friends to one.

As you light the Unity Candle, I want to ask you – and all your friends and family that are present today – to see the brightness of the flame as a symbol of the brightness that your own life will bring to this new family.

[After center candle is lit]

Cy and Jeames, The brightness of the candles that your families have lit – and the brightness of the unity candle that you lit together – will shine throughout your lives, giving you courage and reassurance in the darkness. May the candle’s warmth give you shelter from the cold. May its energy fill your spirits with strength and joy from now and forever.

Exchange of Vows

I am starting to run out of things to say. Lucky for me, the couple has prepared their own vows.

Jeames, your vows please? [Jeames’s vows]

Your turn, Cy. [Cy’s vows]

Exchange of Rings

According to Wikipedia, these rings physically represent the vows and promises you’ve willingly exchanged.

May they remind you that marriage is not a destination but a journey, with no beginning and no end, just a moment to moment opportunity to love and be loved to the best of your ability. If you guys can survive the closet incident, you can survive anything.

Jeames, as you place the ring on Cy, please repeat after me:

I take you to be my Wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, in joy and sorrow, and I promise My love to you. With this ring, I take you as my Wife, for as long as we both shall live.

Cy, as you place the ring on Jeames, please repeat after me:

I take you to be my Husband. To have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, in joy and sorrow, and I promise My love to you. With this ring, I take you as my Husband, for as long as we both shall live.

I Do's

Jeames do you take Cy to be your lawfully wedded Wife? ["I do"]

Do you promise to love, honor, cherish and protect her, and be faithful to her? ["I do"]

And do you promise to love her even when she kills the mood when you’re trying to be romantic? ["I do"]

Cy do you take Jeames to be your lawfully wedded Husband/Wife? ["I do"]

Do you promise to love, honor, cherish and protect him, and be faithful to him? ["I do"]

And do you promise to love him even after he’s been playing videogames all night with the boys? ["I do"]

Declaration of Marriage

By the power vested in me by the internet, it is with great joy that I can now say, GAME OVER!

Congrats guys, you may now kiss!
