[WELCOME:]

Family and Friends of Julia Yenha Trankiem and Marlen Duanne Whitley – welcome to their wedding ceremony this evening at Cabo del Sol, in Cabo San Lucas.

From this location you can see the beautiful waters of the Sea of Cortez. You can hear the crash of the waves…fascinating us with the rhythmic ebb and flow of the power of the ocean. In this place, we take ourselves out of the usual routines of daily living to witness a unique moment in the lives of Julia and Marlen. Today they join their lives in the union of marriage.

To all their guests, they are happy to share this moment with you. They have known most of you for several years. You watched them grow up, you went to school with them, or you worked with them. You helped carry them through life’s tribulations and have shared in their amazing times of triumph. Because you are the ones who have supported them and known them so well, it is only fitting that you are the ones to share this life-changing moment with them.

Marlen and Julia communicate special appreciation of all the love and support their parents have given them over the years, developing them into the loving, trustworthy, and loyal – good people whose like energy and values have brought them together to become one.

And so it is that Marlen and Julia present themselves to be married today…surrounded by the people they love the most.

As Marlen and Julia take this step to enter into this sacred contract of marriage, I share a few words on this covenant. This contract is not to be entered into lightly but thoughtfully and seriously, and with a deep realization of its obligations and responsibilities. Please remember that love, loyalty, and understanding are the foundations of a happy and enduring home.

A wedding ceremony is not a point of arrival. But instead it is the beginning of a long journey that husband and wife commit to travel together for the rest of their lives. The marriage contract serves as the most powerful fuel to advance you on this journey of life. Absorb that; take that in. Remember that when you hit the turbulent times that life inevitably brings, your commitment to each other is to continually find ways to proceed on your trip together. Address any disagreements, misalignments, or footfaults you encounter like you would a flat tire or running out of gas on a road trip. Those things do NOT stop your travel. They may indeed be serious impediments to you continuing along your way, but all things can be overcome with effort, teamwork, empathy and the determination to proceed down that road together no matter the challenge.

[READING:]

In representation of their love and their impending union, Julia and Marlen have requested Selia Warren, friend of the Bride, to deliver a reading of Maya Angelou's "Touched by an Angel".

*(Selia Reads)*

Thank you for delivering that wonderful inspiration of love Selia.

[VOWS:]

Julia and Marlen will now share their formal vows to one another, before this audience of family and friends as witnesses.
