Colette Martin And Michael A Glaser’s Wedding Wedding Ceremony Script

Processional Ends / Introduction:

Ryan: Please be seated. (Colette’s parents remain standing with her)

Ryan: We’re all here today to celebrate the relationship of Colette and Mike and to be witnesses and supporters of the commitment they share with one another. Together we’re a group of the most important people in their lives and they’ve brought us here to publicly recognize that we’ve all played some special part in the love they share today.

Colette and Mike wanted me to thank you all for being here and to recognize how important each and every one of you is to their relationship. With that being said, who gives Colette away in marriage to Mike?

Colette’s Parents: We do (Parents kiss and hug and hand over to Mike)

Ryan: Marriage gives permanence and structure to a couple’s love. It’s a way to tell one another that no matter how much you snore or how much you spent shopping for yourself on the internet, we’re still in this together. Marriage is telling the person you love that you’re not going anywhere and that’s a powerful commitment for two people to make to one another.

A good marriage must be built on the foundation of this commitment. In marriage the “little” things are the big things. It is never being too old to hold hands. It is remembering to say “I love you” at least once a day. It is never going to sleep angry. It is standing together and facing the world. It is speaking words of appreciation and demonstrating gratitude in thoughtful ways. It is having the capacity to forgive and forget. It is not only marrying the right partner – it is being the right partner.

The road that has brought Colette and Mike here today hasn’t been easy. It’s been filled with challenges that they weren’t necessarily prepared for. Like, Mike learning to cook, clean, and groom Stewie and Peanut, while Colette studied and worked insane hours at the hospital! But together, they’ve taken each one on and have used those experiences to strengthen, not weaken their love.

Song:

Ryan: Now I would like to invite the grooms’ cousin John up to perform ‘Wedding Song (There is Love)’

John performs

Ryan: Thank you John.

Vows:

Ryan: You fell in love by chance, but you’re here today because you’re making a conscience choice. You both are choosing each other. You’ve chosen to be with someone who makes you a better you, who makes you think, makes you smile, and makes every day brighter.

You’re about to make promises to each other that you intend to keep. You’re going to vow to take care of each other, to stand up for one another, and find happiness in the other. There is a simple premise to each of these promises: you’re vowing to be there. You’re teaming up and saying to the other, “Every experience I am going to have, I want you to be a part of it.”

Here’s where it gets fun.

Ryan: Do you Colette, promise to keep Mike as your favorite person – to laugh with him, go on adventures with him, support him through life’s tough moments, be proud of him, grow old with him, and find new reasons to love him every day?

Colette: I do

Ryan: Do you Mike, promise to keep Colette as your favorite person – to laugh with her, go on adventures with her, support her through life’s tough moments, be proud of her, grow old with her, and find new reasons to love her every day?

Mike: I do

Ryan: Do you, Colette and Mike, promise to be each other’s partners from this day forward? Will you bring out the best in one another, share your happiest moments together, and love each other absolutely – for the rest of this lifetime and for whatever may come next?

Colette and Mike: We do

Can I have the rings please?

Ring Exchange: Get the rings from the Maid of Honor and Best Man.

Ryan: You’ve both chosen to wear rings as a reminder of these promises. People often say wedding rings are a perfect circle, with no beginning and no end. But these rings did have a beginning. The stones and metals were formed a long time ago deep within the earth. Eventually, a series of lucky events caused them to rise to the surface, where someone dug them up, and made something beautiful from the raw elements.

Love is like that. It comes from humble beginnings, and through a combination of chance and effort, imperfect beings shape into something amazing. It’s the process of making something beautiful where there was once nothing at all. As you look at these rings over the years, I hope you remember that. You have created something invaluable, and just as I know you’ll protect these rings, I am confident you’ll protect the commitments you’ve made to one another today.

Ryan: OK, I hope I have not talked too much, because in the famous words of the best man, “I have not had enough to drink to talk in front of this many people.”

By the power vested in me by the state of Connecticut and a very questionable website where I got ordained, I now pronounce you husband and wife. Mike, you may kiss your bride!

Ryan: It is my great honor and privilege to be the first to present to you Mr. and Dr. Mike Glaser!!!!

Ryan: Alright, let’s party!!!
