"I've known the bride for several years so yes, I was nervous. I didn't want to mess up her big day even though it was a very last minute decision. The couple have been together for 6 years, engaged for 3. He is now working in the oil fields and due to the potentially dangerous nature of the work, insurance policies, and such, they decided that this was the right time to get married. I was asked on the 10th if there was a way they could get married the next day because the groom said that by being married on 7/11 he'd never forget the anniversary since he shops at 7-11 stores frequently!! I was given total liberty to choose the ceremony script. I went with the sample on pages 42-43 of the manual and inserted a short poem at the end of the invocation and before the declaration of intent. The only request they had was that I include a unity candle and they wanted to get married outside. So I contacted a friend who has a pretty little grove of pine trees, got permission to use the space and we went from there. We are in our monsoon season here in New Mexico, so we did play beat the clock on the incoming storm. The wind was enough that we were not able to light the tapers for the unity candle before beginning the ceremony and we opted to light them at the time. But by that time, the wind was strong enough that we couldn't get them lit at all and we forewent the unity candle and the prepared script I had for that portion of the ceremony. I got all of the required signatures on the paperwork and I will be taking it up to the clerk's office for filing the first part of next week! I think I did a good job with less than 24 hours notice and an incoming storm to deal with. I got my first time jitters out of the way and I'm looking forward to my next wedding scheduled on Sept 1! (I keep trying to upload a few pics but it stops uploading and takes me to a page that says the page can't be reached)"
