"First off, I'll let you know that I've known Starr for almost 6 years in an acquaintance type of capacity. When I recently ran into her, our appreciation and respect for one another grew even further. Officially and proudly, this was my first act as a minister, to join Keith and Starr in marriage. It comes on the heels of bidding on their wedding photographer search. Starr declined my photography offer, but challenged me to get ordained as a minister and perform the ceremony. I've always had ministry in my heart, and studied for 15 years with a local church, but never got ordained. When I wrote the ceremony, I carefully selected my words as God would have me do. The conversations with the couple, and with everyone involved in this orchestration, gave me full confidence in this marriage ceremony. The practice night was buzzing with decorating, and everything was onward to the wedding day. I arrived in plenty of time, and the organizing went on as planned, but the bride was nowhere to be found. The groom was nervous that there weren't any guests in the seats. There were 150 guests invited! Was this all a flop?!? I had no control over this circumstance, but I knew to pray, and I did. I paced the floor and prayed quietly while the groomsmen and bridesmaids gathered themselves. Finally, at 10 minutes before the ceremony was to begin, the seats were full and the bride arrived. I took a few moments with the bride and groom separately to compose their emotions. The ceremony went on without a glitch, and the ending is eternal bliss for the happy couple! Any new minister would be nervous with 150 people staring at them, like myself, as I was praying I wouldn't screw up something. Thankfully, it was a success and no one knew this was my first ceremony as a minister except the bride and groom. "
