Congratulations! You’re getting married in West Lake City. This charming suburb of Salt Lake City has several great attractions, including the USANA Amphitheater, the famous Stonebridge Golf Course, and the Redwood Drive-in Theater. You’re also sure to discover the wedding venue of your choice with a large selection of outdoor and indoor locations.
Whatever your plans as a couple, AMM is here to guide you through the process of getting married in West Valley City, from ordaining your chosen minister to completing the marriage license.
According to Utah Code Title 30, marriages may be solemnized by “ministers, rabbis, or priests of any religious denomination.”
If you do not yet fulfill this requirement, don’t worry. As long as you are at least 18 years old, AMM’s free online ordination makes it possible for you to become a minister of our church today by simply signing up.
The State of Utah does not require ministers to register with the local government, so you can start officiating weddings once you are ordained with us!
Now that the formal application process is out of the way, we can help you prepare for the more personal aspects of officiating the wedding ceremony. Being asked to officiate a ceremony is an honor but requires a bit of preparation. You may want to check out our wedding training pages, which are a library of information to help you prepare for your first ceremony and ensure that it goes smoothly.
Here you can find everything from sample wedding ceremony scripts to brainstorming prompts, preparation tips, and more.
When it comes to signing the marriage license, it is the couple’s responsibility to obtain it from the county clerk’s office, fill it out, and hand it over to you to sign as well. Just make sure that the license is valid before signing and giving it back to the couple to return. Otherwise, you have fulfilled your whole legal duty as the officiant!
