Not only is it hopping with music and a somewhat Italian cultural feel, but it’s also packed with lively bars and fascinating art museums. Don’t miss out on the largest equestrian sculpture in the world, and pay a visit to the Mustangs of Las Colinas! Irving also has many beautiful outdoor parks if you want to take a break from the hustle.
No matter what your plans may be, AMM is here to help you sort out the logistical aspects of your wedding. Whether it’s ordaining your hand-picked minister or stepping you through how to fill out a marriage license, we’re here to help. So let’s jump right in!
According to Texas state law, the following are the only groups that are legally able to officiate a marriage:
A licensed or ordained minister or priest
Jewish rabbi
Officer of a religious organization
Justice of the peace, retired judge or justice, judges from numerous courts
If you don’t yet fall into any of these categories, don’t worry! Get ordained for free with AMM! The ordainment process is super easy and should only take you a couple of minutes to complete. You may have to show proof and paperwork that certifies and verifies that you’re legally able to perform weddings in the state of Texas, which we provide for a small fee.
Now that we’ve taken care of the certification part, it’s time to prepare to officiate the wedding. Being asked to officiate a wedding is a great honor, and you should do everything you can to deliver a memorable ceremony.
Our wedding officiant training offers tips on getting it right, as well as information and guides that can help you reduce your anxiety about officiating, especially if this is your first wedding. Find scripts to practice with and get inspired by, training materials, and more. Our goal is to make sure that you are prepared when the big day comes.
It is the couple’s responsibility to obtain the marriage license, but make sure to double-check that the information is accurate before signing because it is a legal document. That means, check that all the names and dates are correct.
Once signed, your job is done, and the couple takes care of the rest!
For The
Couple
The marriage license application must be completed online. Upon completing the application, the couple will also receive an order number to book an appointment with the County Clerk’s Office. When visiting the office, both members of the couple must present valid state-issued identification such as a passport, driver’s license, or military identification. If you complete the Texas Pre-Marital Course, you’ll not only be reducing the marriage license fee by $60, you’ll also be able to waive the 72-hour waiting period. Otherwise, the marriage license fee is $81 and is valid for 90 days. The wedding officiant is responsible for returning the license to the County Clerk’s Office as soon as possible.

Yes. After you are handed your official marriage license, you must wait 72 hours before holding your ceremony. After that, you will have 90 days to hold your ceremony (counting the three-day waiting period.)
Are internet ministers recognized in Texas?
Yes. To officiate weddings in the state, you must be authorized by a religious organization -- including internet ministries -- to perform weddings.
Does the minister have to register their ministerial credentials with the state?
In some states, you have to register your ministerial credentials to perform weddings legally, but Texas is not one of them. So once you’ve signed up with us, you can legally officiate weddings.
Does the couple need to appear in person to apply for a marriage license?
These days, the Dallas County clerk’s office asks that you complete the marriage application online, but the couple will need to appear in person to present their IDs and pick up their license.
