Step 1: Get Ordained with American Marriage Ministries

In the state of Oklahoma, it is legal for anyone to officiate a marriage as long as they are properly ordained. If you just take a few minutes, you can sign up for free with AMM and become an officially ordained minister.

If the local County Clerk’s office requires you to present official documentation, don’t worry, AMM provides you with all the papers you need to perform a legally recognized marriage.

Step 2: Prepare for the Ceremony in Broken Arrow

Whether or not it’s your first time officiating a wedding, being asked to perform the ceremony can be a pretty daunting task. AMM is here to provide you with all the tools and tricks necessary to help you take this to the house. Make sure to check out our wedding training pages for more details on how to write a script and deliver a smooth, well-thought presentation.

Step 3: Officiate the Wedding and Complete the Marriage License

It is the full responsibility of the couple to obtain the marriage license from the local county clerk’s office. However, your responsibility as the officiant is to sign the completed document and make sure that it is returned within thirty days after issuance.

How to Get Married in Broken Arrow

In order to obtain the marriage license, the couple must apply together in person at the Tulsa County Courthouse to pay the required fee and sign documentation.

When you go, don’t forget to bring:

  • Government ID (Passport, Driver’s License, State ID, Military ID)
  • $50 in cash for the marriage license fee
  • Other necessary documents (Divorce Records etc…)

You don’t have to be a resident of Oklahoma to get married there; however, the marriage must be performed within the state. If you want to save a bit of money and take a four-hour premarital training course, the fee for the marriage license will be reduced to $5.00 when the certificate of completion is presented.

Wedding Venue and Planning Tips

For The Couple
& Officiant

The Basics

If you are looking for an idyllic wedding location, complete with a gorgeous Victorian home, an open-air pavilion, and plenty of space for a large reception, we highly recommend checking out Restore House. This venue not only has great catering services but also provides professional wedding photography. You are also just a short walk from all the beautiful parks and historical locations. Another favorite venue of ours is the Glass Chapel. This beautiful, large glass windowed chapel will not disappoint when it comes to snapping breathtaking wedding photos.

Transportation

Because Oklahoma is mostly rural and covered by over nine hundred miles of highway, public transportation options are few and far between. Your best bet for reliable transportation will either be using rideshare services such as Uber and Lyft or just using your own vehicles.

Weather

Oklahoma is a humid subtropical climate, with summers that can get uncomfortably warm. Due to its close proximity to the Rocky Mountains, weather patterns can be unpredictable, and winters are usually cold, wet, and windy with the occasional snowfall.
